PS, I hate Floam.

It's messier than you would think. I speak from experience! The clay is a great idea!

Rubber balls, paper mache balls, go to a local Dollar tree and wander around for things round.....LOL. Thats what I would do.

Good Luck.

Balloons!

and/or balloons covered with papier mache or even plaster of paris if you want to go "retro" and get all fancy shmancy...

Depending on the size, you could also go with wax (parrafin or beeswax), which can be easily carved to shape or SCULPY (think of the COLOR possibilities!)

Have fun, whichever way you go!

Like the ball idea... I did the same project growing up.  And our teacher gave us the same restriction.  I think I ended up using a ping-pong ball, golf ball, tennis ball, soft ball, volleyball, basketball, beach ball - things like that.  My mom got paint that I could paint them all to look like the planets and then we used frisbees (cut up) to make the rings for things.  My dad used a pvc pipe (not sure if that's the right name) and hung them from the pipe in the correct order around the sun.  It was pretty cool because mine were the only planets that could rotate. I made a cardboard back drop where I painted stars and things like the milky way behind the hanging planets.  a lot of work, but it was cool!

HA!  My parents are accepting faux grandchildren at the moment (just waiting patiently for us to come through on that one...).  They are located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and I hear their solar system skills are still up to par =)

Morning all - good luck with all your stuff going on Pam - hope you get it all resolved and quickly.

I'm at work today - hopefully it will be much quieter than yesterday - by lunch time yesterday I was about ready to scream. It was just one of those days when all h*ll broke loose and it was just one thing after another. Hubby was my voice of reason on the trip home last night and talked me through it, but it was one crappy day.

Tonight I'm taking mom to a doctor appt - ear doctor to get her ears cleaned. Somehow she got a 7:00 appt tonight which is nice since it means I don't have to take time off work but once I'm home at night I'm not thrilled about going back out. Oh well, only one night, right?

Yeah, I'm about as exciting as watching paint dry right now...probably a good thing.

Good morning PA. I'm back home after a 4 day weekend in beautiful Naples FL. I met my sister there (she flew down from Michigan). It went better with her than I would have expected - she had a really good time.

Ate lots of delicious seafood....spent some time with a realtor exploring possible retirement/vacation homes....soaked up the sun, even though it was "cool" in the 70's or so.

Today....workman is in the house laying my new kitchen floor! Hooray! The end of putrid green ceramic tile! (It wasn't old...but it was a color that I have no relationship with at all....and cold...and hard on my feet.) Getting the same flooring in the bathrooms, which have desperately needed to be updated.

Today I  have to catch up on e mail and some work projects of course. Work out - I was able to do some walking in FL but look forward to my gym routine again this week. And I guess we are eating out since the frig and stove are pulled out of the kitchen.
