RNY support group in the Scranton/WB area

Are there any good support groups in the Wilkes Barre/Scranton area?  I had my surgery at Abington Memorial but the meetings are 2 hours away. 

Can anyone lend advice and schedules?  PS  the Abington meetings are open to anyone. Please let me knowif the local meetings are open as well.

I have been trying to locate a support group for a while now.

I'm having my surgery done at Hershey Medical Center.
I know a few other people who would love to get one started..What do you think?  Susie

I am with you, I would be willing to use my home if we could get some more people on board, maybe some old pros!

I am going to check to see where Dr Peters from Peckville sends his patients!

That's a good idea...
 I never thought of that, because everyone I talk to says that there are no local groups at all..!
We could probably get a good group together..
 I know that would help me immensely.

You would think these programs would want to help anyone dealing w WLS????
I know that my group @ Allentown doesn't have post op care, but says they would like to.
I have seen post ops at pre surg support groups maybe I can find out more

One of the disadvantages of having surgery out of town is that your surgeon is also out of town.  We have a support group that is for our private patients.  Once or twice a year we allow the general public.  I wish I could help but for your own reasons, you have chosen to have your care elsewhere.  Just please make sure that you have proper preoperative education, availability of proper post-op care and that you know what you're having done and how you should care for it.  Good luck.

I found the schedule for Hazleton General.  The meet the third Wednesday of every month.  The next meeting is on Feb 17th.  I have no problem driving If others want to meet somewhere.
