Jenn,

Yep - your post makes sense.  You're still very early out - it's rare that folks will meet their protein goals this soon.  Your best bet is to just do the best you can, eat frequently and take your time.  Your stoma (the opening created for your pouch) is still swollen so it won't let a lot through at any given time.

I'm not familiar with your doc's specific plan, but most of us are told to eat 5 - 6 times per day, not going more than about 3 hours without eating something (this keeps the blood sugar stable) - except while sleeping, of course -  and spacing our protein and fat intake throughout the day.  That also enables us to eat smaller amounts and not stretch out our pouches.

Hope this helps and welcome to the bench!

6-8 ounces of protein pudding seems like a lot to me.  There would be no way I could get that in early out.

The protein shakes...that is a little bit easier to do (assuming you aren't gagging on the taste/consistency post op) but it's still gonna take you awhile to consume that much protein, even in liquid form.  6-8 ounces is a lot regardless.

Take your time....try to get a little more in every single day.  It's HARD in the beginning, but will get easier!

Keep on sipping!

Early out I was only supposed to get 2 oz. at one "meal" and sometimes I didn't even make that. It takes awhile for things to heal and to be able to get in close to your prescribed amounts. You are doing fine. And I can tell already how committed you are to this change in your life.
