What to have at home for post-op?
Sorry, Liz---I don't know if the Meltaways were on the recall list. I bought WalMart's brand, which were a lot cheaper. I agree with the response you got about having a heating pad. I lived with mine for a few weeks. I also wanted to say that I'm a side sleeper and didn't have any trouble sleeping or getting up. I did sleep with a pillow over me for a few weeks to keep my cats off me till I healed.

I have a very comfy chaise lounge in my bedroom that I slept on for almost 2 weeks following surgery, but you can achieve the same effect with a lot of bed pillows propped behind you and beside you - its just very uncomfortable to lay flat if you roll onto your stomach or side.
Sounds like you have a good many things in order to continue your journey after weight loss but I would offer this word of caution - do not use liquid Tylenol with PowerBoost - the 'PowerBoost' is pure sugar and I found that out the hard way. About 2 weeks post-op I started having horrific back pain - so bad that my husband had to help me from bed to the shower which isn't more than 15 to 20 feet - I literally couldn't stand up straight. Instead of taking the prescribed pain meds I tried the liquid Tylenol since I was having my 2 week post-op visit with my surgeon - OMG did I get SICK!! I was in the shower and the shakes came, along with severe nausea, sweating, feeling like I was going to pass out. I was having one major case of dumping and didn't even know what it was at the time.
So be very careful with the liquid Tylenol - read the label before taking it. I wouldn't buy anything else to eat or drink right now - the majority of us don't even come close to getting all our proteins in the first couple of weeks - the important thing is to keep hydrated by sipping water all day long, walking (for exercise and relieve the gas build-up in your body, which can also cause pain), and resting - it is invasive surgery and your body will need time to heal. And like someone else said - your tastes may change drastically after surgery - I know mine did.
But for now relax...get some rest...and get ready for one of the mose incredible journeys of your

Look at the ingredients - if sugar is one of the first ingredients listed DO NOT TAKE IT. Sadly I did not look at the ingredients before I took it but if its saying 'rapid blast' that tells me there is something extra to get the pain meds into your system faster, and that something is most likely sugar so please be careful...
I agree with Steve on the Magic Bullet - a must have, in my opinion. I use mine twice a day. It's perfect. My neighbor just had surgery and she bought one too and loves it. I got my daughter one for Christmas and she went crazy over it - lol -
