Vitamin D ?
Hi Jill,
I take 1000 IU daily, as a sublingual (found them at Wegmans, by Twinlab) called D3+K. Dr. P has been happy with my labs at that level, although I'm still on the low side of normal.
Keep in mind that the only other sources of D for most of us are sunlight and Vit D milk (to which it's added). If you're lactose intolerant, you'll need to check and see whether anything you're consuming has added D. And if you're not getting much sunlight (which we're not at this time of year), that's another source that's lacking. Hence the need for more supplementation.
It's a close balance - you also don't want to tip into D toxicity by taking way too much. That's why working with the doc and your blood work is so important.
Hope this helps!
