weird feeling at night
Ok so I must know if any of the other new post ops feel this cause my hubby laughs at me , but every night I get ready for bed in the recliner where I spend most of the day cant use my bed yet.. and about 10 mins later I call it aliens feel as if they are moving all through my belly I get shooting pains and fels like worms are crawling- I know it sounds strange .. but I am just wondering causse its def weird for me *LOL
on a lighter note I am holding down the full liquids still not getting enough protein in I need to buy some that unflavored protein powder. I am going stir crzy in the house also I go outside and walk but uggh I cant wait for normal life again

Can't help you on the weird night feeling. Maybe gas build up? Try walking around a little bit, even in the house, before you get ready for bed? I might also considering giving your surgeon a call specifically on the shooting pain feelings.
"Normal" life will be here soon - although not as you previously knew it! Hang in there!

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.

Also I get "post anestesia" skin where my skin gets so tight and dry it feels like it is crawling it itches so badly.
One more scenario - GAS! Gas post op is the devil incarnate! I know even still it seems that I can feel a gas bubble go from my stomach through my intestines. Does it feel better if you get up and move around? Take a hot shower or use a heating pad.
Feel better!
Oh and I am with my favorite Nurse Pam - if it continues tonight I'd call the surgeon - better safe then sorry!

At first you aren't going to get in all your fluids or protein just do your best to get in as much as possible (the more you get in the better you heal!) and try to increase a little every day - even if it is 1 sip/spoonful at a time. You can do things like add a little protein powder to anything. Add greek yogurt into your protein shakes (if yogurt is allowed on your full liquids menu)
Hi Jenn!
I cracked up reading your post. The EXACT same thing happened to me throughout the first week. I described it as Gremlins to my husband (who also thought I was crazy). I think the description of worms and aliens fits too. I also had shooting pains, but luckily - my husband is a regular with gas (okay, I can't believe I just typed that!) and he said when he gets gas really bad, that's how he felt. I guess I had never really had bad gas before, at least not the kind that caused pain. After about 5-7 days it passed. In fact, I think once I started having regular #2's - all was right with the world again. (That took 6 days after surgery for that to happen).
I bought unflavored protein powder and pretty much gagged. I'm hope you have better luck with it. The way I'm getting in my protein (75 grams) on full liquids is glasses of skim milk (9 grams for 8 oz.) Greek yogurt (15 grams for 6 oz) and cream of whatever soup (15 grams for 2 servings made with skim milk). Basically the greek yogurt is what gets me over the edge.
I start pureed tomorrow (THANK GOD! But also a little nervous and think I'll want to move on to soft foods even more now - so I'll let you know how that goes).
Keep up the good work - you're doing a great job =)
