I'm A Dumping Freak of Nature

I had a weekend away with college friends and for living in a hotel since Friday and relying on restaurants for all meals but ONE, I did really well for the most part sticking to my eating plan.  However, I got something that was disagreeable and have felt dreadful since around 2 pm yesterday afternoon.  Now, I am dumping.  It isn't awful, lie on the bathroom floor and wanna die dumping, but essentially everything I eat is making me feel like I consumed 10 grams of sugar and 20 grams of fat, I get light-headed and dizzy and tired for about a half hour or so, and then I am in the bathroom.  Then I feel better, and the next time I eat something, it happens again.

Is it a tummy bug?  Food poisoning?  Did I mess up?  You tell me!  Please keep in mind I was LIVING IN A HILTON from Friday til Monday without my own kitchen before someone jumps my case, ok?  :-)

Friday

B- 1 cup of skim milk before we left home

S- 1/4 of a SF blueberry muffin

L- about 2 oz. of the chicken off the McD's Grilled chicken classic sandwich and water

S- Apple Dippers

D- 3 oz of filet mignon, tossed salad with balsamic vin.

S- None

86 oz water for the day

Saturday

B- 1 poached egg at Perkins and a couple forkfuls of hashbrowns

S- 1/4 of a SF blueberry muffin

L- 3 oz of chicken fajita meat with a little guacamole

S- None

D- 2 oz of grilled shaved sirloin with provolone cheese, mushrooms and onions (I ordered a small cheesesteak and ate the inside)  and 3 bites of dill pickle

S- Small Handful of pretzels

102 oz of water/iced tea

Sunday- My Birthday Party Day at a friend's house!

B- None

S- 3 medium shrimp

L- 2 homemade meatballs (ground sirloin) and 4 medium shrimp

S- 3 tbsp homemade mac and cheese

D- I ordered a turkey club and ate the turkey and bacon off half the sandwich

S- My birthday cake- 1 oz of That Pretzel Stuff (evil evil evil but so good)

Didn't measure my water intake but I know I got all of it in because I refilled my glass about 8 times at Kim's house alone and drank everything at dinner

Monday (the day I got the crud)

B- 1 poached egg, 1 piece of bacon, and 1 forkful of cheesy hashbrowns at Cracker Barrel

S-  None

L- I ordered a turkey club at Perkins and ate the turkey and bacon off 1/4 of it and within an hour, started to feel sick.

S- None- I felt HORRIBLE

D- None- I felt HORRIBLE

I didn't get my water in and I know it because I was so sick and gassy and nauseated.

Today, I have done nothing but a shake for breakfast, 2 oz of cheddar for snack, a shake for lunch, 3 saltines with pimento spread for snack and 8 glasses of water and I have dumped ALL DAY.

Am I sick, or did I do something wrong?  I know I am not perfect by any means, but I keep looking over everything and nothing diet wise looks like it should cause me massive gas and pain and nausea all day Monday and cause me to dump constantly all day Tuesday....

Ideas?

the only thing I can think is that Cracker Barrel and Perkins stuff is really full of fat, more than just fat from the food. They cook the hashbrowns in fat, it pours off the plate if you hold it to the side.

I would  love to live on bacon but it has a tendancy to be pokey and get stuck. I know for a fact that you can ge****er stuck so I would be careful with bacon for another 6 months.

I also remember it taking about 18 months for that sick feeling after I ate to go away.

Love you hunnie!!!

well the only thing I can think of maybe the bacon? The fat  may have gotten to you but I kind of don't think so. My best guess is you got that evil stomach flu that is going around. at least 5 people that I work with have it - some are vomiting, some have diarreah - all feel like they want to curl into a ball and die.

When you get to feeling like this generally the Docs will recommend doing at least 24 hours of full liquids - shakes, pudding, yogurt, jello, soups etc. When I feel this way I stay away from all things dairy, which really doesn't effect me too much beacause I am lactose intolerant so I use soy milk anyway.

Hope you feel better very very soon!

Well, here are a few ideas:

You might be sick. The way this has gone on and on would lead me to think you are....

But the symptoms sound like dumping. (Laying on the bathroom floor is a dead giveaway in my book).

I'd call my dr. Thankfully you have your food log. It seems that if this were related to anything you ate, it would have passed by now (be it food poisoning, dumping, or a reaction to sugar alcohols or some other ingredient).

Let us know what the dr. says okay?

You are on Fat overload.    Almost everything I see in your diet is fatty.   It is very similar to dumping on sugar overload but has more gas, diarrhea involved.   Check your poop.   Is it floating or sinking?  It should sink.  Is it in one lump some or many particals?  Should be a lump.  Or explosive?  Not good.   Nice and medium brown or yellowish brown?   Should be Hershey's Candy Bar Brown.  Do you have an oil slick floating on top the toile****er??  That's fat floating.    Any of those coupled with pains in the stomach or your sites as it passes through them indicates overload.   Your bowels are moving around in protest.   It might take a couple days of going back to your usual diet to clear it out, that is all.   Might want to pack some stuff next time you go somewhere instead of totally relying on eating out.   Take out kitchens are no where near as good as yours, I'm sure.

I am wondering if chicken is the culprit? I for one can't eat chicken I tried to do it three times and oh boy not a pretty picture!  On sunday you skipped breakfast? what is up with that? Onions another culprit?  meatballs the sauce may have had too much sugar in it and shrimp for one meal to me sounds like an awful lot of food there?  Mac and cheese would not have been my choice?  B-day cake?  You have to be kidding!?  Bacon is totally greasy and cheesy hash browns?!  And pickles are you kidding me?  And pimento spread where is the protein in that? Just curious?  Sorry sweetie to me reading your menu sounds like you went on a major eatting binge.  And was the cheddar cheese low fat or reduced fat? My suggestion is try de-caf peppermint tea and do protein shakes for at least the next two days and I hope you feel better. You really need to plan your meals away from home more thorough such as if need be pack some protein shakes and get small pints sized skim or 1% milk and just give more thought to your options.  Also when dining out I tell them how I want my things prepared I know it sounds crazy but I am paying for it so I open my mouth such as when I order things such as omolets I tell them dry (not cooked in butter) and so on.
