Lost 12 pounds and still no date
Has anyone gone through the whole 6 month process and then been asked to come back in one month? I have been through my homework list and have gotten clearence from all the tests and specialists; I even lost 12 pounds, yet I was told I have to come back to see the dietition again in a month. I have been let down so many times from this office I could just cry. I have done everything they asked me to, yet I am not scheduled for my surgery. I was told that I would get a phone call last Friday with my date and did not receive a call. On Monday I called to find out my date and was told I will not get one for possibly another month. Has this happened to anyone else? If so; Why?

Joanne, the waiting is the hardest part..
I didn't go through Dr. Brader, but due to insurance isues my pre-surgery process was 18 months! And believe me, I did shed some tears during that time!
But I will tell you this. Once you get scheduled, it flies. Be patient. Every day that you wait is a day that you are more prepared and more committed, and preparation and commitment are key to success.
There are quite a few forum members who work with Dr. Brader and they may be able to help you understand how his office works.
Hang in! Lynn

Has your insurance approved the surgery yet? Often the delays are due to insurance companies and not the actual surgeons office. Your experience with this office is pretty uniform with most places because there are so many factors at play. Your experience is not that unique. It is not personal and not just you. They only do so many surgeries per month and absolutely everything has to be in place including your funding. Dont get discouraged, you will get the date and it will be when all loose ends are tied up. You would not want to rush and then find out that you were not authorized fully by insurance or that you did not fully understand your financial obligations regarding the surgery.
A 6 month dietary plan and pre-op tests do NOT guarantee a surgery date immediately following that 6 month period.
I am sure you are anxious, but remember that there are many factors that come into play. One is insurance. No surgery date can be set if approval isn't made. Also, try to remember that there are MANY patients going through this process, and a surgeon can only do so many surgeries per week.
Try to be patient. This is a big deal.
When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!
I am almost hesitant to post a reply, but I feel compelled to as well.
Dr. Brader and his team are top notch. I trust those folks with my life. If you were told to come back in 1 month, there is a reason. I am sure they gave you one although you may not want to give it up here. If you were told that you need to see the nutritionist again, perhaps there is some concern about your eating habits and a concern about if you will be able to follow the very strict diet afterwards.
As many others have said, there are many many obstacles to overcome before you are put on the schedule. My surgery date was changed 3x before I finally had it done on 12/30/09. You must be patient and you must be ready.
