Some tips about packing / planning food

OK So I know we have a lot of recent post ops here now, and although I've shared these tips before I thought that I would post it again just for the heck of it.

So over the weekend (or whatever day you have off) I prep snacks and whatever meals I can for the week. I have a crazy weekday schedule and for me having grab and go food makes it easier to plan my days. Snack size ziplocks are my best friend as are the 1/2 and 1 cup plastic containers.

On sundays (the day that works for me) I...
cut up an entire block of cheese and put into serving size bags
cup up fruit and put it into containers
divide out serving sizes of pretzels, beef jerkey, grapes etc into baggies
make lunchmeat / cheese roll ups

also get as much prepped for dinners as I can. This week we are having beef stir fry and chicken, broccoli alfredo. So I cut up the beef, onions, mushrooms and zucchini and put this all into 1 ziplock bag - completly done and even seasoned with the garlic salt and pepper - so tomorrow night all I have to do is toss it in the frying pan and eat! For the other meal I actually made tonight but prepped earlier - I  chopped the broccoli, chicken, garlic and put it in the fridge so it was ready when I was. Made the actual cooking of dinner only take about 15 minutes.

I also try to, on the weekends, dig through my freezer and see what options I have for the week's dinners. I pull the items that I want to cook to the top so that they are easier to pull out quickly during the week. The crock pot can also be your best friend. I prep the meal in the ceramic container the night before and pop the whole thing in the fridge, that way in the morning I just set it on the actual cooker and turn it on!

I know that's a lot of info but just thought that I would share some of the tips that make this busy working, mom-to-be's life a little easier!
