Ideas?

Ok...in a few mins I'm gonna look around on the web for some recipies....but.....

any ideas for a different type of meal using ground beef?  I took some out last night and really have no idea what to do with it.  I'm kind of tired of just about everything we "normally" do with it.

Meatballs/burgers/tacos/nachos/chilli/sloppy joes are what we normally do with it.

I also have chicken breasts out....probably gonna do one of the newer recipies with that in the next day or so.

Busy Burgers .... essentially sloppy joes with Cream of Mushroom soup instead of tomota paste. Add in some garlice and onion, and you're good to go.

My grandmother used to make these. Sounds weird... but it is good! Mary is a convert.

The taco soup on bariatriceating.com is really good.

Or you could make Poor Mans steak. (mix meat with seasonings, shape in steak-like sizes, cook and top with gravy or mushroom soup or just fried onions and mushrooms)

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

Poor Mans steak....like salisbury steak, no?  Good idea!  I came up with something else (I'll post that in a minute...) but thanks!

Yeah, but we make many variations, like italian seasoning and red sauce, (burger parm kinda), and the mushrooms one is similar to stroganoff, we just "wing" it some days.

Ok...well first of all....I ended up using half of it for chilli per hubby's request.  (it was a family size package of 93/7 ground beef....probably about 3 pounds)

Anyway...Norm saying about his grandmother making "Busy Burgers" got me thinking about food from when I was a kid...I remembered some sort of dish my mom used to make and ended up making my own "concoction" as I call it.

Cheeseburger Pie

1 1/2 (or so....) pounds of very lean ground beef
One small onion, diced
2-3 garlic cloves, minced
One can reduced fat cheddar cheese condensed soup
1/2 can reduced fat/low sodium cream of mushroom condensed soup
Worscheshire sauce
Ketchup
Pie Crust
Shredded cheese for top

Saute onion and garli****il tender
Add ground beef, coo****il no longer pink
Add in soups, a few dashes of worscheshire sauce, and a few big squirts of ketchup.  Stir to combine.  Thin with a little water if needed
Place in a prebaked pie shell, top with cheddar and coo****il heated through (crust) and cheese on top is melted.

Now...if I wasn't serving this to Mr. Picky pants, I would have probably added in a bunch more chopped veggies (peppers, mushrooms etc), and even some chopped pickels or something.  I also probably would have made it 1/2 can of cheddar soup and full can of mushroom soup.

Not the absolute healthiest thing in the world...but not awful either.  I haven't finished it (IE, it's not in a pie shell and topped yet) but will do that right before serving tonight.

sounds yummy! Chris' mom made a cheeseburger pie too - I'll type the recipe up for you one of these days. She also did something called "Logger burgers" She made these oversized burgers, coated them in breadcrumbs and fried (just to get the outside crunchy - not to cook through) put them in a baking pan and cover with 1 can evap. milk and 1 can cream of mushroom soup and bake for 1 hour.

Do you like cabbage, as in how stuffed cabbage taste. . .

If so there is a great crockpot stuffed cabbage casserole recipe, it is easy and very tasty, takes 4-5 hours in the crockpot.

If interested, let me know. . .
