Water !   Over the holidays, I really found myself slacking in the water department.  There were a couple of days where I actually felt that parched, thirsty feeling from the lack of water.  And I also noticed that my skin was super dry and flaky.

Well, that was then and this is now !  I have been getting in anywhere between 80-100 oz. daily for the last few days.  What really gets me going is that I am making myself get in 20 oz. of water before breakfast.  That gets me off to a really good start for the day.

I will admit to adding crystal light packets to my water though.  Helps it go down a little easier.  My surgeon is not a fan of artificial sweeteners and generally I try to stay away from them as far as other food products go, but I really like the crystal light flavors.  My NUT said that if crystal light helped me get my water in, that I should use it.  Funny how there are varying recommendations between the surgeon and the NUT.

Anyhow, keep on drinkin' folks !

I have been getting in the minimum requirement for liquids each day, but that is about it. I have committed to reach that and push hard for an extra 15-20 ounces today. I have had kidney problems in the past and the minimum is not going to cut it.

I'm with the NUT - if flavoring your water helps you to get it in - DO IT! There was a period of almost 2 years where plain water actually made me feel ill. Surgeon said he has heard that a lot, can't explain it, but acknowledges it none the less.

You can also try one of those "pure lemon/lime/orange" packets in your water, it is flavor without sweetness.  I actually find if I drink too much fake sweetener I feel more dehydrated - yuck!

Good luck with getting the fluids in!

If CL helps you get the water in go for it!  I can't use it because artificial sweeteners give me really bad acid reflux.  Wish they didn't because I love CL raspberry lemonade!

4C makes their flavors with splenda - aspartame does me in big time with migraines and such, so I avoid it like the plague.  The 4C (Tea2Go) ones taste great, though.  You can also use unsweetened kool aid and sweeten it with your own sweetener of choice to taste.

I'm a HUGE fan of Cyrstal Lite and definatley use it.  Especially at work for some reason, it helps me get my water in.  I do drink regular water as well.

I also use decaf teas, coffees to get the fluids in, especially in the winter as I don't like plain water much, most especially during the winter months. . .  but I'm with you, as during the holidays I found myself drinking less decaffienated products/water and more coffee than usual, it definitely played a part in my weight gain as well as dry feeling. . .  it's a new year, a new day and like you, I'm back on track!

Hugs, Laureen

I'm with you, Lisa---I need to make a renewed effort to get my water in.  I did well with fluids when I was working, but I don't do well with no schedule/structure in my day.  I used to love plain water, but couldn't stand it after surgery.  I still don't drink much plain water, but I drink a lot of Crystal Light (mostly tea flavors) and decaf tea.

Hope to see you at the meeting tonigh****er bottle in hand!
