Monday Morning Roll Call!!

Kathy I just want to say one thing to you and everyone on these boards and its going to sound really insenitive and brutal but when you read this just take one step back and consider what I am saying ok.  I read your original post on your niece and saw that she was forced to go into a rehab and the sad thing is that she didn't want to go into the rehab and its up to her if she wants to get cleaned up now physically they will detox her but mentally the work is up to the individual person.  I am not trying to be mean just honest. I read about certain people and loved ones in their lives being addicts and I am married to a recovering addict which I am open about and the addict has to want to get cleaned up whi*****ludes going to support group meetings, sharing and chairing and working their programs and we cannot do their work for them, nag them, threaten them, or force them.  Your niece has to want to stay cleaned up.  Alot of damage and heartache is done and its a shame I know personally from going thru this.  Like I have said before you all need to get to a NarAnon meeting to learn how to deal with yourselves on this because you cannot cause, cure, control, cure them.  Please, Kathy think about this.  If you need to PM me or want to talk to me I am here if you need to talk.  Now for the roll call its too cold for me and I wanna go somewhere nice and warm not humid!  I hope everyone has a great 2010.

Linda trust me, you do not sound insenstive or brutal - I appreciate your honesty and the openess of everyone on these boards who has had to deal with an addiction or someone they love having an addiction. I'm sure you are right about forcing her into detox but her parents honestly didn't know what else to do at that point, and it was either that or she was on the street. This isn't a child we're talking about - she is 30 years old. Plus it was either rehab or jail time, which may still be a possibility, and this time she'll do hard time at a state institution and that is her biggest fear. When she fell off the wagon the last time she forged my brother's signature on his checks and cleaned out his bank accounts while he was on vacation, so he had to press charges in order to get his money back - she is still serving probation from those charges and now she is facing new charges for forging her husband's name and cleaning out their accounts, plus hundreds of dollars in overdraft fees, so he may have to press charges against her so he doesn't lose everything.

I am going to search for a NarAnon and/or AlAnon meeting somewhere close to me where I can go and try to understand how to deal with all this - and possibly help my mother along as well. Sadly I cannot convince my siblings to go and it is their children who are dealing with the addictions - my niece with the drugs and my nephew with alcohol - my sister refuses to see my nephew's problems and is a total enabler - he is 38 and she is totally supporting him and always has. My brother refuses to get into the same situation with his daughter and I don't blame him, but I know I need to learn how to step back from both of them because I am also a 'soft touch' when it comes to giving in to giving them money, etc.

Please feel free to be brutally honest when it comes to this subject because I am truly at a loss on how to deal with all the emotions I'm having, my mother is dealing with, and my siblings - and on top of everything else my husband is getting down because yet another special time in our lives has been disrupted by someone in my family and he also has to deal with my mother - he's the one who took care of her last week when she got so sick from all this nonsense. It literally affects everyone around us.

Good Morning everyone !

Hope that you all are staying warm & cozy this morning.

Today has me at work til 3:30 and then home to make dinner.  I think I may also do a little cleaning tonight.  My new place is pretty small, so there really isn't much to clean, but there is always the bathroom and PLENTY of dusting.  We have oil heat and I seem to be dusting every other day.

I'm counting down the days this wee****il Thursday.  That's when I'm getting my Christmas present from my honey installed....an automatic car starter !  Woo hoo !  Can't wait to start my car from inside the house on cold mornings like this.  The remote has a 1000 foot range, which is way more than I need, but heck, I could use it when I'm out too.  Start my car in the parking garage while I'm walking to the garage in the afternoon, start it up from the mall exit, etc.

Have a great day all !
Lisa

Lisa they are the BEST!!! I leave my defrosters on high when I shut off the car at night - then in the morning I press that magic button from the warmth of my kitchen window and get into the car without ever having to scrape the windows or be freezing - LOVE IT!!!

Oh happy Monday everyone!  Tanya - I did love the middle of the night feedings - so long as they were able to go bck to sleep - it was quiet and peaceful.  And...with any luck - they wont last too long!

So - here I am - back in my cozy classroom wondering, again, why I wasn't born rich and could have just stayed in my bed.  Oh well, such is life!

so - work today - deal with the craziness that is puberty AFTER a long holiday break....Lord, give me strength!  After school, headed home to tutor and do the homework dance, then I have to bathe the girls and deal with LICE!  UGH!  This is the second time in 18 months.  NOT happy!  We found it yesterday morning, treated them, Larry shaved his head - I was clean as was Joshua - I guess a bonus for not liking his sisters and therefore not being anywhere near them!  I will wash and go through their hair every day for a week, treat them again, and go through their hair every day for another week.  What a joy - oh and there was a ****load of laundry - Larry took care of that however, my comforter, which can NOT be washed, is bagged up along with my pretty pillows to be away for about 4 weeks.  Last night was so freakin cold - We only used a summer blanket because I was too lazy to get the Bug's Life comforter out of the loft, looks like I will be sleeping with Disney tonight, I don't want to be cold again!

Tonight we are back to our regular routine - Molly has dance class and Larry is back to work.  all in all, it was an AWESOME break and I really felt we gave our kids some good experiences.  (Us too!)

I hope you all have a warm, cozy and nice Monday!

Good Morning.

Breakfast with the little ones, off to work from 10-3, then home, do laundry and get a few groceries. That's it.

Simple, easy and nice!

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

Good Morning from Delaware...

Sorry I have been out of commission for a while.  Decided to take the holidays off and spend it with my family and friends ... and just kind of zone out not really doing anything.  But now that it's the new year I'm back in action and ready to go.

Today is the usual for me.  Was up early to get the hubby motivated and ready for work.  Ran him to the office and am now at breakfast and getting ready for physical therapy for the shoulder.  Had my second 4 week evaluation on NYE and was recommended for another 4 weeks.  I'm wondering if it will ever end considering they aren't really sure what is even wrong.

After therapy it's home to do some general cleaning and the beginning of taking down all the Christmas decorations before going to pick Robb up at 4.  Tonight is going to be a late night because after dropping him off at home I'm headed to my first support group of the year at 7pm

Hope everyone has a great day and stays warm.

Kris...

Good morning all,

Getting the first of the month bills out of the way this morning and then off to run some much needed errands before coming home to walk with my friend (I just need to call him and tell him he is walking with me, he doesn't have a choice). I am going to work hard on getting my proteins and liquid requirements met today. Have a great day all.

I miss the nightly feedings and snuggling.  Enjoy it, because before you know they live half-way across the country and have kids of their own.

I am back to work, after the holiday break, and my sick leave.  The cold snap has me out of sorts.

I might hit the pool this evening.  I learned that there are cheap aerobics at the pool at the school my kids went to.

Stay warm.

Huggles,
Trish

Morning!  It's almost afternoon at this point, LOL

I slept in today...till 8:30 which was awesome.  I actually woke up at 7 but stayed in bed just snuggling and dozing on and off.  I've already gotten most of the laundry done - last loads are in the washer/dryer now.  yaaay!  I also have a pot of chicken and dumplings (sans duplings at the moment) on the stove - so the house smells intoxicatingly good at the moment.

We have to pull a part the bedroom today - the mattress is coming (you guys only have a few more days of me talking about this process, promise) so we need to get the old bed dissmantled, and all that stuff.  Delivery between 2:30 and 6:30

Depending on if it is towards the earlier time or not - we may treck out to the movies tonight.  We desperately want to see Avatar in IMAX but the only IMAX theaters are all over an hour away - so it'll be a trek no matter which one we go to.  If the mattress comes to late - we'll just stay at home tonight and probably watch a movie here and get the room set up and what not.
