Has anyone had surgery in Altoona with a Dr. Newlin?  I was just wondering how it all went?

Thanks in advance,
Theresa

HI Chele,

Wow , how weird is that , that we would come across each other.   How did your surgery go?  Would you do it again?  I have been going back and forth between bypass and lapband. I was originally really against bypass, until I started researching more. NOw, I am leaning towards the bypass.

I go down to Altoona this month to listen to the informational session .

Anything you can tell me would be great!

Thanks in advance, and great to connect with you!

Hi Theresa,

Can't help you with your question about Dr Newlin, but I wanted to say hi.  My dad was born and raised in Altoona, and I was born in Tyrone.

Like you, I was always against bypass and was interested in the band.  I learned that the band could cause heartburn, and I had that bad enough, so I researched bypass and went with that.  And I'm glad I did!  I've lost about 90 lbs in 6.5 months and feel great.  Do your research, listen at the informational session, and ask lots of questions.  And feel free to ask anything here on the PA board---we're not shy and will answer anything.

Good luck in your research and decision process!

Hi Julia,

Thank you for the message!  I am definately leaning more towards the bypass now. I don't think that I would have much success with the band.  And wow 90 lbs in 6.5 months.. Thats amazing!  I am so looking foward to getting my life back!

I can't wait!  I go for the informational session on January 20th, and then would have surgery by March31st.   My husband's insurance rolls over on April 1st.  Altoona doesn't have  a 6 month waiting period if your insurance doesnt, so that will work good for me!

Nice meeting you!

Theresa
