3 days down on the liquid diet - Surgery Tuesday

It's the end of the 3rd day of my pre-surgery liquid diet and I am not doing too bad.  I found some Chike protein shakes I like and they are making it a lot easier.  I passed a major stress test today.  My wife and I had to go to the mall to make a return and I gave her the green light to eat out.  I went with her to her favorite Mexican place and it really wasn't that bad.  I sat and watched her eat and had a glass of water.  I can't say that I wasn't salivating like one of Pavlov's dogs but I am one determined dude and will do whatever I have to do to make my surgery a success.

I have a question.  What protein supplements do you like or what do you do to make them more palatable?  I have been adding powdered milk, coffee, sugar free chocolate syrup or some other "additives" to some of the ones I tried and it really helps.  I will be sipping protein drinks post surgery so please let me know your favorites.

Thanks in advance.  Mark

Mark, good luck on Tuesday!!! Let us know how you're doing. Don't stock up on big canisters of protein as your tastes may change after surgery. I like Max protein, available at GNC, and EAS protein, which I buy at Giant. Experiment with adding some fruit and putting it in the blender. I found that some of the shakes went down easier if I put them in the freezer for a while and then ate them with a spoon. Keep trying different things to see what works best for you. And again, good luck!!

Mark,
Make sure Sue keeps me posted so I can post for you. I am glad you re doing OK with liquid diet.  I know I don't like unjury as much as Chike, I also like Body Fortress from Walmart, choc and vanilla. Add nutmeg and cinnamon to vanilla shakes tastes delicious.....good luck , you know how to find me if you need me.    -Lynn

Mark,

Good for you on going out to eat with your wife.  Sheesh!!!

Protein shakes....definately don't stock up on anything before hand.  Things you like now you may hate afterwards and visa versa.

Some of my favorites:

I forget who made it - but there's an espresso flavored protein powder (NOT CLICK - that contains cafeeine) and I would mix it with milk, NSA chocolate instant breakfast so it tasted like a chocolate mocha drink.  I would either blend it with ice for a milkshake like consistency, or make it luke warm (you can't get milk hot with protein powder - the protein powder turns to a gelatenous mess if it's to hot) for a mocha coffee drink.

Vanilla protein powder + milk + banana + peanut butter

Vanilla protein powder + frozen mixed berries + milk for a berry smoothie

I never tried it but some have said to mix vanilla protein powder with orange juice for a creamscicle type flavor
