Itching...
Is this common after WLS???????????????????????????
I've been itching on and off for about a month and haven't really given much thought t it. The past week it's become worse. Gene and I can't remember if this happened to him after his WLS. I've taken inventory to make sure I haven't changed any products - I have very sensitive skin so I stick to what is familiar for me. I've double checked all my normal products to make sure they have not changed any little thing in the formulas, so far so good everything has checked out.
If this continues I'll be visiting my PCP next week....
Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.....

Perhaps the cold dry winter air and dryness? Liz if I remember correctly had this problem last winter. She also has real sensitive skin. She found organic coconut oil in Wegmans - I think she said it looked like crisco in a small container. She would take a luke warm shower, just barely pat herself dry, then apply the coconut stuff and put on long johns and hop into bed. Not oh so sexy but it definately helped the itch and dry skin.

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.

OMG Ida, I've been itching all day.. I'm trying to figure out if it's the detergent or the weather. I did switch but it's to a brand I've used before. I bought Eucerin Plus Intensive Repair Lotion at the suggestion of a friend who's son has psoriasis. I just put it on for the first time tonight. I'm hoping it helps.
Good luck.. I feel your pain..... my status on facebook is all about the itch..

I vaguely remember some itching post-op. However, my skin is just about raw in places from the cold, dry air combined with the dry heat indoors.
My only solutions are lots of moisturizer, and increasing my fluid intake. Remember, skin is an organ and it must be hydrated. I like Pam's description of Liz. I must try that, as I often feel like I have bugs crawling on me I itch in so many places at times.
Hugs,
Trish

Seek always to do some good, somewhere. Every man has to seek in his own way to realize his true worth. You must give some time to your fellow man. For remember, you don't live in a world all your own. Your brothers are here too.

thank you Trish. I definately stay hydrated. I'm getting in no less than 120 oz of fluids a day and half of that is water. I've tried the Eucerin that Lisa mentioned but it didn't help and I hated the feel of it on my skin. I don't like feeling greasy it drives me nuts and I have to wa**** off so I have a very hard time finding moisturizers to use.
I picked up some Aveeno for Gene the other day so I'm going to give that a try until I get to the grocery store to see if I can find the coconut that Pam and Liz recommended.
