I was reading over some of the comments on another post and found that I am OK and the freezing and constant goose bumps are normal. Ever since I had my surgery in November I have been so cold. This is a huge change for me considering I was always hot no matter the temp outside, Now my husband and I fight over the thermostat in the house he turns it down I turn it up..Wish I would of asked for an electric blanket from Santa.

Yep...par for the course!  I found sitting on a heating pad helps...I used  mine so much last winter that I wore the poor thing out.  I need to go get another one.....

yup keep in mind part of us has dissapeared that used to keep us warm its called insulation Heather G you are too funny!  I have had my electric blanket for years never thinking I would be turning it up full blast!  Its cold out there!  I wear flannel pjs, a flat sheet an electric blanket, down comforter, fleece blanket and my husband is amazed that I am not sweating and I tell him hell no I am still cold!

It's funny you say that - i was telling hubby last night that I should have gotten a twin-size elec blanket so i could keep my side of the bed the "right" temp for me.  His nickname for me USED to be "my little furnace" but he can't call me that anymore.  haha.

Silk undies (think Cuddleduds, etc.), layering, nice warm sweaters and vests, down throw comforters, space heaters... they've all come into my life recently and are my favorite things.

I have invested in a heated mattress pad. Best invention ever!  I also recommend Cuddle Duds (very warm & thin thermal undies, found at Target) and of course, the Snuggie, and wool socks, and Uggs!

Fortunately for me, I live alone and have sole control of the thermostat!  :-)

Yup, sans insulation (all that excess body fat), it's a might *****illy, though I must say this year has been better than the last two winters.  Perhaps it's that I now dress prepared for the cold. . .

My Mantra is that I do not determine my success by the number hanging in my closet, nor will I let the scale determine that success either. . .  It is through trial and error I will continue to grow and succeed. . .  Laureen

Yeppers.

That being said...make sure you are having labs pulled frequently (every 3 mos or so depending on your surgeon for the first year)  Low iron, anemia, and low vitamins CAN add to the feeling cold.

Other than that...mattress pad warmers, fleece, layers, long johns, and fleece lined jeans (LL Bean sells them and dear mercy the best pair of winter clothing item I own!)

oh yea!! It still happens in August... SOmeone had told me early out that your body is focusing everything on healing and digestion that it draws some of the "energy" away from your body heating itself - not sure how true that it is but it sounds good  lol.

I wear layers - lots of layers. I also have a twin size electric blanket on my 1/2 of the bed, LOVE thick socks, cardigans over everything, an electric blanket for my chair in the living room and a remote starter for my car lol.

OH and I am almost 20 weeks pregnant and STILL Freezing!

I think all post op WLS patients should live in houses with fire places because the electric/oil companies are making a mint off of us! lol
