24 hours from now

Actually, less then 24 hours from now my surgery will be over. I got the call to be at the hospital at 6:30am tomorrow.  I am first on the list which makes me happy. Dr. Brader told me the other day that he was allowing extra time for me because of my previous medical history. He wanted to be sure he had time to do it and do it right. I have no fears.

On a lighter note, I went to bed without dinner last night. I don't know if that was supposed to be a pun or not, but I like it!! Anyway, because of stress, surgery, my teenage son the rocket scientist, my wife,  and my daughter who thought I ought to have one more meal for the road, and the fact that I haven't been sleeping well, I chose to take some drugs to help me sleep vs. going out  and having one more really nice meal with my family. I went to sleep at 6pm last night and got up at 9am this morning. I am well rested and feeling so much more relaxed and less stressed.  I am on all liquids today and so far, have been doing just fine with that.

I did get on the scale this morning and saw that I  am 417.2 lbs. Down just a hair over 40 lbs since my initial consult with Dr. Brader back in June, and down over 50 lbs since this all started back in May. I bought myself a personal training and workout book to start Jan. 1 when I come out of the hospital. It also has a place to keep track of meals and such. It also has a place to for monthly measurements. I am taking my measurements tonight and also taking a picture to print and put in the front as well so I can see completely how far I go in 1 year.

Thanks to all of you for your words of encouragement. It means a lot to me, and I hope to become that to others in the future as I take my place on the losers bench!! Have a great evening and I talk to you on the other side.

PS, I don't do well with cold surfaces on my butt, so please have somebody warm up my seat on that bench!!

People comment on my over 100 pound weight loss and attribute it to my WILLpower, but it is my WANTpower: I WANT to be thin and healthy more than anything else!

Congrats on your new journey in life.  You'll do GREAT!!!  We're not far from each other, I like seeing people close by on here.  I had mine 2 months ago and I'm down 55 lbs since.  I still don't have the appetite to eat or the want to eat..nothing seems to suit me but I'm definately keeping the protein coming.  Good Luck and please let us know how you did ASAP!!

John, you think your butt doesn't deal well with the cold now just wait until you're half the person you are now - then your whole body is going to rebel at living in this frigid region - LOL!! I haven't been warm since October!

I am so happy for you and congratulate you on your wonderful accomplishments so far - that's awesome!! I lost 50 lbs prior to my surgery and my surgeon was thrilled about it because it made the surgery that much easier. I'm sure yours is going to be a great advantage as well.

Again, congratulations - Happy New Year and Happy New YOU!! Its an amazing, awesome, incredible journey - hang on and enjoy the ride!!

John,

Can you let me know where you got that book at to track everything?  I'm always looking for something new and that sounds like it has everything in it!  My surgery is one week from today, I'll be in surgery next Tuesday morning.  I'll be happy to follow in your footsteps.  If you need someone to post for you, just let me know.

Best of luck!!!
Melissa

I can't remember if I got it at Borders Books or  Barnes and Noble. It was on the clearance rack. It is called  "Personal Training & Workout Diary"  by Hinkler Books.  *****lerbooks.com) .

Thanks everyone. I guess it sounds like I ought to move south if my butt is going to freeze even more after surgery.
