OT: Some very sad news this morning
Kathy,
My heart goes out to you and your family. We are going through something similar with my sister-in-law currently, who is a Rx drug addict (we think the drug of choice is dilaudid, but it's a combo problem) on a scary and horrible slide downhill. Her brother (my husband), mother, and grandparents are alcoholics, and her son (at 18) is well on his way to joining them. It's gut-wrenching to watch a family disintegrate to the disease of addiction.
AL-ANON can help, as can the realization that while the emotions are yours, the addiction isn't in your control. All you can control is your response to it.
HUGS and understanding coming your way.

Kathy I am sorry you are going thru this I went thru it with my husband and I have a loving well meaning piece of advice NarAnon. The C's come into mind....you can't Cure them, you didn't Cause it you can't Control it, And you can't Change it. You need to consider those things I had to find out the hard way and by the grace of God things worked out because there are 3 options and they are addicts either go to jail, OD or clean up. I am sorry you are dealing with this and my heart and prayers are with you. Go to NarAnon and you will be surprised at how much that helps.
