Lancaster area:surgeons/primary drs who take medicaid/access card

 Hi all !!  I'm in the waaay beginning stages of all this, as in I'm hoping to get approved for medicaid/access card after Jan. 7th doctor appt.  Once I have coverage I will be looking to find a primary care physician who will be willing to help me through this process, so I guess my first question is has anyone found a PCP in the Lancaster area who has been helpful.  Also, I believe there are a few different plans to choose from once I do receive MA...Gateway, Amerihealth etc.????, Anyone know which may be the better choice as far as WLS is concerned?  And then finally, surgeons in the Lancaster area who accept MA....any help there?  I am new to the forum and I did read through some of the older posts that touched on some of this but didn't see a whole lot of new info, so anyone who's recently gone through this process who is using PA medical assistance for payment coverage in the Lancaster area... all help will be greatly appreciated!!!  Good luck to you all in your journey!!

When I had access they would not approve the surgery, but a friend of mine who has medicare has to go through the Center of Excellence, I am not sure about medicaid. You may want to call them and get the info so you can do research on the surgeons and what is covered. I know she had to go through COE cause although the surgeon took her insurance the hospital did not. I hope this helps and you will soon be approved!!

 thanks for the reply, yeah I did read somewhere about the COE's, going to do some research on that tomorrow and start making some phone calls.....I hear patience is a good thing to have through all of this, hoping I will find some along the way!!!

I am not sure, but I think my PCP Dr Jon Lepley takes MA at center city physicians in lancaster
