A VERY SPECIAL DAY for one of our own....
Today is a VERY SPECIAL day for one of our own.
Donna P is a Dr. Boe baby and celebrated her 2 yr surgiversary on December 4th and has done incredabally well, but her journey has not been an easy one. Donna is my hero - she is the one I look up to the most. She is truly my sister in weight loss and in life and she is the very definition of stregnth, courage and dedication.
Almost one month following her surgery in January 2008, Donna's better half went into full kidney failure. Over the following months his health declined in a big way. So while we were worried about our protein counts and getting our exercise in, making sure we have been drinking enough water and keeping up with the postings on OH, FB and email, Donna has been making daily trips to doctors, emergency surgeries, intensive care units, hospital rooms and treatments centers.
Donna's family has experienced set back after set back, His only hope would be a new kidney. Earlier this year, and after struggling to get his weight down to qualify for transplant surgery, the search began for a donor and an almost perfect match was found right there in their own home!! Today, almost 2 years later, Nicole (Donna and Franks' daughter) will be giving her father the gift of life.
Please say some extra prayers today for the family as Nicole gives her father a kidney that will give him a new start. Pray for continued stregnth to Donna as she waits all day for the surgeons to come out from the two separate surgeries to tell her that her daughter and husband have made it through without complication. And pray that the teams of transplant surgeons and surgical folks skillfully and successfully complete the transplant without complication.

WOW Kim, what wonderful news for the holiday season. I can vividly remember Donna, Frank and you all being at a Barix post-op meeting back in January of 2008. I believe it was the first for all of you and you sat right up front. Donna's challenges have been constant but she continues the need to succeed and stays on the road to successing. With all she does for Frank she has also managed (and very well) to not forget about herself and her journey. It's simply so wonderful to know that Frank's health can return with this gift from Nicole. I can't think of a more rewarding gift to give, to receive, and to cherish than this loving exchange within the Pannucci family. We are all forwarding positive thoughts and prayers for one of our own. One family of our own. I see this Christmas as being Very Merry indeed.
All the best,
Dennis
