Nine month checkup on last Thursday

I went for my nine month checkup this past Thursday. Everything was great. The doctor is very pleased with me. The first thing he did was to congratulate me on losing 100 lbs. Then we talked about my goal, he said that if I had reached 170-175 as my lowest weight he would have been thrilled with me, and I am at 155 lbs. right now. He was very happy for me. And that with my bone structure and build he really doesn't want me to lose any more and if I do no more than another 10 lbs or so. I didn't have any blood work done this time, but he did advise me to start taking B12 twice a week, I guess my levels at six months were ok but on the lower side of normal. No big deal. I did notice on my blood work from three months ago that my Vit D levels are on the low side of normal also, so I am going to take extra calcium with Vit D until I can pick up some Vit D supplement just to be safe. I don't want to have any deficency problems if I can avoid it. All in all a very good checkup. It feels so good to be validated in the fact that I am doing what I am supposed to and following the guidelines. I am successing and loving it. The one thing I still need to work on is excersing on a regular basis. Our best friends have been active in the YMCA gym for a long time. He was actually a powerlifter who competed and won. They have been missing out on going to the gym too. So after the holiday maddness we are all going to start going together and he is going to work up a training program for us. It will be so fun being able to go with our friends. Everyone have a wonderful day. Belinda

Belinda,

That's awesome that you've done so well!!!!  Congrats on losing 100 lbs!!!  Great job!  I remember you had a lot of difficulties right after sugery, so I'm happy for you that all that stuff is behind you and you're doing well!!!  I love the idea of going to the gym with your friends---makes going much more enjoyable and less like work.

Great job, Belinda!!!

Belinda,

Wonderful progress - congratulations!  You've done a great job working and successing.  Incorporating a great exercise plan will help 'cement' everything.  Great work!

Belinda,

Congratulations on your great success.  I have my 6 month check up on 12/28.  I am hoping to be down 80 lbs by then.  Right now I'm down about 77-78.  You are faithful to this board and are very supportive of the people on here.  I still tend to do a lot of reading more than posting.  I also need to get on the exercise band wagon.  I have started working out with weights at home to tone up my arms.  Hope that you enjoy your holidays.  Take care.

Gosh...how far you have come in 9 mos!  I remember the early post op issues you were having - and successing doesn't even begin to describe what you are doing!  Congrats congrats congrats!!

Definately try to get the plain Vit D supplements - to much calcium can lead to kidney stones - definately not something you want to deal with!  I've never had them but have treated a many - and I swear it's probably the worst pain I've ever seen people in.

The YMCA thing sounds GREAT especially with friends who can help design a program for you!

Whoo hooo!!!

Oh - and just so you don't "panic" - a few of us have noticed after getting down to "goal" we drop another 5-10 pounds when we don't want to...but then it comes back up.  It's just your body balancing itself out and figuring out where it "wants" to be.

Yay!!

Pam
