OT: My journey for unconditional love. . .

Hoping you can view these pictures, The last one is where I knew that life brings us exactly what we need, when we need it. . . I and my roommate arrived a half hour early and we waited for the woman who I had been in contact with about Sirius, when she arrived, she opened the back of her car and out came this beautiful female Rottie, who had been surrendered by her former owners to a shelter in Philadelphia. Her former owners had 3 dogs and 6 children, she appeared to be a very well trained, good mannered girl, but I was there to meet Sirius and not wanting a female dog. I did think for just a moment, why don't I want a female dog? Anyway, long story short, can I ever tell a short story (lol), I met Sirius and another large male rottie, named Buster, also a beautiful boy, but after spending some time, with both of them individually, I realized that they would be too much for me to handle. The woman asked if I wanted to take another look at the female rottie and so she was brought back out, I walked and played with her, it felt right and she is and will become a full fledged member of my home when I return from Florida after attending my wonderful daughter, Angela's nursing school graduation this upcoming week. Her name is Roxie!
A last note on this wonderful story, when I looked over her papers, the date she was brought to the shelter in Philadephia, was the same day that my dear Dillinger was put to rest. I think there are no coincidences in life, just "God's" way of remaining anonymous. . . As always thank you for your support and friendship along the way.
To my Jewish friends, I wish you a very Happy Hannukah! With warm regards, Laureen

Laureen S. congratulations. Non dog people sadly will never know what a canine has to offer. I`ve trained and owned GSD`s all my life and then about 20 years ago one changed my life. Took me from a hard ass biker, trucker with an attitude to somebody that cares and understands, has compassion, commitment, gentleness and true loyalty. Shultz is gone but each pup since has taught me something new.

Thank you for sharing that statement, it is beautiful and true. . .
Also, excuse my ignorance, but what is a GSD? and glad you became who you are, which I am sure underneath all that armour you always were, just needed a nudge from a wet nosed, sloppy faced gift that is a dog!
Hugs. ..

Laureen,
I am so glad you found Roxie. Yes there are so many animals turned into Phila ASPCA every day for various reasons. You not only saved Roxie, but made room for another deserving animal who needs a home. I volunteer at a animal rescue in Quakertown. We run from the well trained to those who could no longer afford to keep their animals, and really should have given them up sooner judging by their condition. Every animal we place, makes room for us to go to Philly and get more. Their are so many deserving animals looking for a home, the shelter sometimes gets calls more than twice a week, asking if we can come down to pick up some, as their time is almost up, as they can only keep them for so long. The economy has really taken a toll on people not being able to care for their animals. Sorry for stealing you thread, If anyone out there is thinking of getting a animal for Christmas, PLEASE think Rescue. Glad you have a new friend in your life. Enjoy your daughters Capping and Pinning. It is a moving ceremony, when you think of all the time and effort she put into getting this degree.
Hugs to You, Ena
