BIRTHDAYS BIRTHDAYS BIRTHDAYS!!!
I am so honored to be able to start this post today.
Today, December 13, marks a wonderful day in history. Two of my dearest friends celebrate their anniversary to their entry into this world along with I. Join me in singing to two of our very special friends:
DENNIS BELK (aka Papa, aka arch, aka den den, aka angel) Dennis is the leader of the post op support groups at Barix every third wednesday. He is on these boards frequently and never once hesitates to give real advice, real friendship, true compassion, and love to all those willing to accept it all. We are lucky to see him make very frequent appearance's at Liz's house, first Saturday meetings, and it appears even the "mean girls" like him. One of those mean girls I believe has claimed him to be hers! Thanks for sharing such a wonderful man with us, Beth!!
Happy Birthday, Dennis. You were one of the first people who saw me at a post op meeting and came over and made me feel welcome. I treasure the many conversations we've had. And although I still find it a bit, shall we say, odd, on some things you have figured out about me, I'm so glad you did. Thanks, papa!!
KAREN GOELLER (Did I spell your name right, Karen? I sure hope so!!) Anyway - Karen karen karen! She's a slightly "newer" member of the boards, although it doesn't seem so. Karen is also full of love, laughter, support, knowledge, and inspiration. And the recipies this woman has come up with?! C'Mon now....chocolate covered cashew brittle? Yum O. Not to mention, a VERY accomplished jewelry artist. Karen, thank you for being so warm, so opening, and so loving. You give the advice and FOLLOW your own advice and are willing to ask for and listen to the same as well. We are very blessed to have found you! You are no stranger to adversity or challenge, and you ensure that you overcome each and every hurdle with what appears to be grace and ease!!!
So join me, my fellow PA-ers and say happy happy day to two wonderful people who I know I am pleased beyond words to call my friends and share this special day with!

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.

Happy happy birthday to Pam, Dennis, and Karen!!! I've had the pleasure of meeting all of these special people---and it truly is a pleasure knowing each of them. I met Dennis at the Philly OH conference in 2008. I was getting tea, and Dennis walked up, introduced himself, and was very welcoming. I met Karen at my first Wed. post-op meeting at Barix, and we sat together. Pam is one of the people I remember from when I first started reading the PA board. Feel like I've known her forever, but we just met a few weeks ago at Liz's cooking class. Happy birthday,my friends!!!! And thank you all for your support!!!

Hummm well maybe someone needs to add a PAM paragraph
Pam Podeszwa - our very own nursey-poo who is always so full of advice and knowledge when we ask our crazy questions. Someone who unconditionall gives her support, friendship and shoulder to anyone that is in need and someone who I am happy to call a friend and neighbor.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you all! Love you!
