Alright Gang.... Gather 'round...

This is a tough time of year with holiday goodies showing up on reception desks and counters across corporate America. WE CAN BEAT THIS!!! Keep sugar free candies in your fridge or desk drawer for those days cravings are too strong to beat. Much better to have 1-2 pieces of sugar free candy then that slice of cake that's made with the devil sugar!
Step away from the chocolate and fruit cake! When the monster of temptation is calling distract yourself! Listen to your voice mail, return phone calls or check in here! I know in my office I have to walk past the counter of treats to go to the bathroom (which being 17 weeks pregnant is quite often!)
Hang in there guys!!! Remember that "Nothing tastes as good as being thinner and healthier feels!"
*hugs*

You know Liz, I had a real insight over the last couple of days. I had made that Hershey's cocoa chocolate cake recipe and was all proud of myself for taking a SF dessert to a holiday party.
But I caught myself eating tsome of the leftover cake the same way I used to eat - standing in the kitchen, sneak eating (although much less of it). It was sort of scary. I still have it in me. Still processing this...
The good news? The maltitol did its number on me and I spent the rest of the day on Gas X. (Serves me right!) The rest of the leftovers are in the freezer or given away.

Liz,
Thanks for posting this! I had my very first hungry day yesterday since my surgery, August 19th. I NEVER want to go back to craving food. As long as I can keep the sugar out of my mouth - and I haven't tried any since surgery - I should do just fine. I have a HUGE FEAR that if I try even just one bite, it may just set me off, not to mention dumping. I hope the fear continues and I hope my strong will helps me get to my goal weight.
We ALL can do this! Thanks again for the encouragement!!!

Debbie, my personal commitment is to avoid sugar from here on out. One of our Barix support leaders is very open about saying "I do not eat sugar," and I can say that too. It's been 5 months for me. (Although I DO specifically recall my last sugar....does an alcoholic remember her last drink? It was at DQ in Naples FL on July 3....)

I bought myself sf chocolate covered pretzels and I still have some sf chocolate chip cookies that I made the other week. I've been rationing them out with my lunches (the cookies that is) as a treat - and in all honesty - I find when I have them with me I don't necessarily feel the need to eat them. There have been a few nights when I've brought them back home with me!
Thanks for the reminder!

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.

Being further out, I know what I can and cant have. I know my limits. I have stuck to them and plan to keep doing so.
Even the PB fudge I ate was the tiniest piece because I KNOW a regular piece would have done me in! LOL
I even avoided the cake and cookies at my own "going away" party at the one office. LOL

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!
