Been AWOL

I just wanted to let everyone here know that I have been AWOL for a multitude of reasons.  One, is I have been in chronic pain, and my family doc has cried "Uncle" and is referring me to a pain management doctor.  Since I can't take NSAIDs, due to the RNY and my history of bleeding ulcers, and narcotics get dicey because I am in recovery for alcoholism, we have been trying all the other stuff.

I have also been battling to get back to totally sugar free.  I did well for over a year, and now I am showing that I am a true addict to the sugar, and testing my dump limit.  Being totally honest here, and knowing I need to get to the support meetings and talk.  Right now, getting me to an AA meeting is a miracle, due to all the crap in my life.

Oh, and did I mention, I am moving to a smaller place over the holidays.  This should be interesting.

Huggles,
Trish

Trish,
So sorry you are going thru all of this to try and relieve your pain.  Stick with it, you are stronger than you think.  As for the moving, I hope you have someone to help, so you won't make things worse.  I will be praying for relief for you.

Hi Trish!

So gtlad to see you back in touch.  And also so sorry to hear of the multiple challenges you've been dealing with.  I know that can't be easy, and your recovery definitely makes things more challenging from a medication management perspective.  Kudos for you in keeping your perspective and communicating honestly and reaching out for support. If you need anything, please let me know.

HUGS

I know this sounds strange, but it's worth a try. Have you had your thyroid function tested? After surgery I had alot of pain and was caused by extreme case of hypothyroidism.....Hope this helps, Hope you feel better. Keep up with your determination w/ AA , you can do this. you're strong and have already proved that in your ability to overcome addiction before. Lot of prayers going out to you!

The pain I am having is in my hips and lower back, and Xrays showed that I have arthritis and degenerative disc disease in my lower back.  My doc is suspecting fibromyalgia, and did give me the name of a pain specialist and I do have an appointment with a rheumatologist on Christmas Eve.

I will ask him about thyroid function testing next time I am there for my B12 shot.

Thanks,
Trish

I had awful pain , never suspected thyroid, and my mother is hypothyroid and a RN. My final clue was being unseasonably cold, hit a nerve with everyone after they were about to diagnose me with chronic pain syndrome. Whew what a relief, two days of synthroid and all pain gone. Good luck w your appt's

I haven't been around to much either, Trish.

And no, I didn't know you were moving to a smaller place.  I know you've been looking for such a place for quite awhile.

Hope we get to see you and provide support as much as we can!

Thanks Pam.  I did not decide to move into the place I checked out on Wednesday till Thursday.  So, don't feel bad.  I did not know I was moving till then either.

Hugs,
Trish
