Checking In
Good Morning all.
Sorry I didn't post last night but I went straight into bed when I got home. The ER last night was annoying. We got there at 5, didn't get into the bac****il 9, got home about midnight and fell straight into bed.
They diagnoised me with Vertigo - I'm not in agreement with that diagnoisis. They gave me medication in the ER Adevert I think it's called, knocked me out, took it about 9:30pm and am just now waking up but my brain is so woozy from the meds I can't stand it. So I'm not filling that perscription.
I did just get off the phone with the surgeons office and they suggested taking B-12 suppliments since the doc has not started me on them yet. In addition to the dizziness I'm also very tired. So I'm wondering if B-12 might be the problem. The hospital focused on the dizzy which I would imagine was the more critical, since that could indicate dehydration even though I kept telling everyone how much I do drink a day. They checked my electro lites, they are good, I am not dehydrated. I didn't think I would be considering I'm drinking 80 to 120 oz of fluids a day, with most of that being water. When they confirmed I was not dehydrated, they decided on the Vertigo diagnosis.
I'm going to try to sleep off this medicaiton some more to try to feel more normal. I do not like drugs especially those that mess with my brian and put me in zombie land.

Oh Ida - I am sooo glad you are home! We were all so worried! According to Beth's post earlier - I understand that you live in the Northeast - as do I - if you EVER need anything, please please please, call me - my cell is 267-577-2090. Also, hubby is a Paramedic and is stationed out of Cottman and Loretto across from Wilson Middle - so we can be of any help that you may need! Take it easy and continue to recover!
Ida,
Sorry you went through all this and are thinking they misdiagnosed you, but you know we do have to be our own advocates when it comes to how we feel and if the B12 does not give you a boost, they perhaps some bloodwork is in order for all the many things we as WLS post-ops have to look out for. . . I hope after you have slept off the after effects of the medication they gave you, that you are feeling better.
Hugs, Laureen

Laureen,
Thank you. I'm terrible with medications. Today and it's Saturday, I'm still feeling the affects of that medication. I am so glad I asked Gene not to fill it yesterday. I have an appointment with my PCP on Thursday and will discuss all this with him to see what his take on it is.
