OK, so I work for a mid sized doctors office with about 30 employees.  Today is payday........ No pay check?? This is the 3rd time this year that we have not got paid on time.  I am not independently wealthy and count on my check the day I get paid.  We are so going through a bunch of people quitting, our Nurse Practitioner, Our Head Doctor, Our Procedures Nurse, 2 billing girls, all in the past oh month.  I am really getting fed up with not getting paid and being expected to be here working.  Do you have any words of wisdom, what should I do.  OH BTW I did ask once about my missing check and was told I should no plan on getting paid on payday and should plan accordingly???

I would be discretly looking for another job and notify the labor board on them.  There is a good reason why all of these people quit.  Sounds like alot of personality and money issues.  Your creditors aren't going to accept the I didn't get paid yet. Start looking I would say to you. BTW can you PM me and give me a heads up as to what practice this is so I don't end up there no offense.

Oh, Hell No!

No No No!

Do you want me to call the office manager? I will tear her a new asshole. It's the LAW< THEY HAVE TO PAY YOU!

I know a surgeon with his own practice and he actually paid his employees from his own personal account last week. Times are tough for some private offices. But it's the responsibility of the employer to pay no matter what. He wouldn't have even dreamed of NOT paying them. and since checks weren't coming in, he paid them himself.

You had better make sure you get paid. I will be your "voice" if you want.

PS, get a job with Wellspan. We have lots of openings, good benefits and we get paid on time! LOL

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

I applied for the PACS/RIS position at Wellspan on Monday, I have not heard anything yet.

I agree they just don't get it, some of us our not rolling in the money and live paycheck to paycheck.  Welcome to a recession!!!

I'm with Jo - it's illegal for them to not pay you on payday - call a lawyer if you want! That is just WRONG!

Hope that your check shows soon!

WTF?  oops sorry, but who the hell would have the nerve to tell you that you should not expect to get paid on payday?  Are they kidding or what?  Me with my best New York attitude would certainly not be keeping my mouth shut on that one. . .  My best suggestion is get outta there. . .

I am still not believing what you were told. . .

I know. I am NOT in a good mood today. this would have been the very thing to send me over the edge and flip out.

I would probably be jobless and crying, but I think that statement would have just made my explode!

I'd see this as a RED FLAG -- Sounds like trouble to me.  With so many quitting and your paycheck not being on time.....I'd be looking ASAP for another job.  Good luck with Wellspan....they do have wonderful benefits.

When the idiot told you about not expecting a paycheck on payday you should have said 'well then don't expect me to show up on work days!' - That's just insane!

I know we all need our jobs but definitely be looking now to get out of there. My daughter went thru that with a franchise owner - wasn't paying them on time - not paying their commissions - I told her the same thing - big RED flag - get out of there - that was 2 years ago and she never has received a W2 from that jerk.

So yes, definitely be on the hunt for a new job because chances are you could show up for work one day and the doors are locked and the practice is closed...doesn't sound like he's managing his business very well at all.

Best of luck to you - this is a crappy situation to be in.
