Any members go through the Penn State Hershey program?
Just wondering if anybody on the PA message board has been through the Penn State Hershey Bariatric program. I am in the process of doing my 6 mo diet program. Go back for visit #2 on 12/9. Lost about 5 lb so far...not too bad. My husband is also in the program...he goes back for #2 visit on the same day.
Well, if anybody has gone through their program and went on to have surgery, I would love to hear from you. Even if you are in the midst of going through it yourself...always helps to have support, and I would love to hear from you as well.
Thanks, Erica

Hi Erica!
I had my surgery there over 5 years ago. So firstly, the same surgeons aren't there now. (I think mine just moved within the last month, and Dr. Ku is in reading now.) I am not sure if Dr. Cooney is still there but I have heard great things about Ann Rodgers.
When I went through the process, things were different than now. You will definitely get more support and info now. The bariatric programs out there have made tremendous strides in making the process a more knowledgeable experience for people.
So all I can specifically address for you personally, is the care at Penn State. And that is TOP NOTCH! the facility and staff and wonderful. I never had one bad thing to say about it. Good Luck and feel free to hang around on the board for support and questions.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!
Hi Erica - I started the program this past summer, have my Group3 session Tuesday and I'm scheduled for my RNY procedure on 12/16.
Dr Rogers is doing my surgery and so far she's been great to work with and the same for the rest of the staff I've dealt with.
good luck to you and your husband both.
Mark
