Good Morning Wednesday Roll Call

Oh, I've fully considered all of them.  Even if you consider a netbook a laptop let me know - I'd like to know what you think you'll get.  I'm thinking by this time next year I might also want a netbook, but then again with this phone, not sure I'll NEED it.  It always seems to come back to that, need vs. want - but this one I could totally justify because I NEED it to stay on track =)

Another great feature of the droid is that you can get a mount for your dashboard and it works as a full screen navigation system.  You can flip it to satellite view and you can actually see the houses and buildings your driving by.  We tried it last night on the way home from the store and I started to get sick to my stomach - it was so real it was like I was looking out the window of a plane!  I also like the mount because it allows hands free driving if you're okay with speaker phone.  It saved me 40-60 bucks because I didn't need to get a bluetooth headset (although those were available).

Ok, you're making me totally jealous that you have the Droid!!!  I can't upgrade my phone till April, so I'll have to just bide my time.  I'm hoping that any bugs the Droid may have will be worked out by then.  I currently have the LG Dare and hate it---the touch screen isn't too responsive, and it's difficult to do much on the web.  We looked at iPhones, but I didn't like it.  So now I'm waiting for the Droid in April. 

Oh Julia... do I have some good news for you!  I wasn't eligible for an upgrade until October 2010!  But we've been getting all these flyers in the mail about the Droid and I've gotten emails too.  On each email or flyer, it says "promotion available for phone number ending in 0838".  I went in to talk to someone about the storm 2 months ago because of the same flyers and the kid behind the counter was a JERK and said nope - unless you want to pay $550.  I mentioned the flyer and he just told me no again.  So this time, my hubby and I got smart.  We each took in a separate flyer or email with each of our numbers specifically mentioned on it saying we were eligible.  They pulled us up in the system and it said on their end "not eligible", but we showed the flyers/emails to the manager and she overrode everything!!!  She said she does it all the time.  I guess they don't let you officially upgrade because you could technically do that online through your Verizon account in April, but if you go to the physical store where they have a chance to sell you more accessories - they'll honor the promotion!!!

I'm not sure where you live, but we went to the Verizon store on Manheim Pike in Lancaster.  The person we worked with was Ed and I'm not sure of the manager's name - but she was younger and very nice.  Retail the phone was $560, we got them for $199 a piece after $100 mail in rebate that will come in the form of a visa debit card in a few weeks.  Our flyers and emails said the promotion was good until Dec. 31st.  I'd give it a try if you can - it's been well worth it!!!  (Oh, and one more recommendation - get the one with the flip out keyboard, not just the touch.  Although the touch is very responsive on it - I like having the keyboard as a back up!)

Thanks for the info, Mel!  I don't think we've gotten any promotional mail or email about upgrading, but I'll keep my eye out for any.  I def want one with the keyboard---I hate not having one on my Dare.  I'm hoping the price drops in the next few months---would be so helpful. 

Be sure you get whatever promotional stuff they promised you!  When we bought our Dares, we were told we would get memory cards for our phones.  We had to keep pestering them till they finally gave them to us.

I think my mom goes to the Verizon store on Manheim Pk.  I actually live in Phoenixville but grew up in Mount Joy and frequently go back to see family.  In fact, we'll be there for Thanksgiving.  I'd love to meet some of the Lancaster OH family sometime!

ooooh - I LOOOOVE the idea of the barcode app!  I wonder if the iphone has anything similar?  I'll have to look around the app store!  Enjoy!

Good morning everyone -

Today has me a work til 3:30 this afternoon and then working tonight at the Doc's.  I worked last night and it was oddly quiet.  Hopefully it doesn't get too crazy tonight to make up for it.

Also, my office is having a holiday food drive for a local food pantry and I brought in my stuff today.  It cost me about $10.00 for a large bag of food (got some really good sale stuff at Giant) and it will really help people that are in need.   Please consider donating to your local food bank during the upcoming holiday season.  There are a lot of people out there that are struggling just to get food on the table.

we are doing a drive here too - it's for a homeless shelter somewhere locally. I too got a full bag of food for about $10 - same sales at Giant :) SO far we have 6 full paper bags of food - our deadline is friday afternoon. It's a great cause!

morning all.. happy hump day!!

Today has me working some weird shift.. started at 5:15, will stop at 8:15 to go to parent-teacher conferences, then come back to finish my day.  I'll probably be gone about 2 hours.  I don't like that they have conferences during the day, but as a friend of mine on facebook (teacher) so abruptly pointed out to me today, it's a sacrifice parents need to make for their kids. 

After work, I will head over to the gym to do couch to 5K training and spin class-tough teacher tonight, I'm looking forward to the challenge.  I don't think I'm going to do strength training because I meet with Rocco tomorrow and I want to be able to push myself really hard then.
