Pre-anesthesia clinic?

Good evening all-- I have an odd question-- I came home to a message on my answering machine from the pre-anesthesia clinic requesting a call "as soon as possible."  Of course, I just got home and got the message and they closed at 4.  So, I am now faced with 12 and a half hours of wondering what is needed, if there is a problem, if surgery may be bumped, etc.  Surgery is scheduled for one week from today, and while running around work today trying to finalize coverage while I am out, etc. for some reason everyone was making comments  such as "if your surgery stays as scheduled."  I am beginning to feel it is a sign.

Ok, I grant that a lot of that is likely stress from a long hectic day and mounting anxiety about next week.  So, that said-- Is there any chance this is a routine call?  Did anyone else receive a call from the pre-anesthesia clinic prior to surgery?  I guess I am only worried is because in all the planning and discussions with the office about what to expect, no one said "expect a call from pre-anethesia . . ."

Ok, thanks for letting me vent a bit.  I think it is going to be a long night!

I think that if there was an issue Dr Brader's office would have called you personally. I seem to remember having received a call from the anestesiogists office prior to my gall bladder surgery with just some routine questions - they also called a day or 2 later to follow up.

Good luck and keep us posted on what they say tomorrow!

I had surgery about 6 weeks ago for a port revision and I think I talked to everyone at LGH!  I think I remember the pre-anesthesia phone call... it was just some pre-surgery questions.  Everything about that week is a little fuzzy though - lol.  It wasn't a big deal.  Liz is right, if something was a no-go the office would have called.  Good luck next week!

this is only my assumption because you are not having surgery at Hershey, but........

I worked in the Pre-Anesthesia Clinic at Hershey for years. It is all the pre-asmission testing for before surgery. We did EKG's, bloodwork, x-rays, physical, and Anesthesia consultation all at one time for all patients scheduled for surgery.

So I am thinking that is what it is. So don't sweat it.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

Dawn,

Keep us posted on what the call was actually about - hopefully it was just routine and nothing will get bumped!  He's so booked, I don't know where they'd bump you to =)  I'm sure you're a go for the 24th!

Hang in there - your comment about it being all related to stress on top of everything else is probably more correct.

Hope to have an update from you today!

Dawn - I'm a day late, but I'm sure you already found out it's a routine call. The same thing happened to me. They left a message on my machine and I had to call before 4pm and I don't get home from work till 5pm or so. Then to make matters worse, the person I needed to speak with was going to be off the next day, I was told to call her the following day.

Oh and another thing........my surgery was on a Tuesday and I got another call from LGH on a Sunday to verify my medical history (pre-admissions) so you might get another call over the weekend. Good luck if I don't talk to you before then!

Thank you everyone!  Your encouragement and supporting words helped.  It was a routine call, everything is fine.  Just asking some questions about medical history, etc.  I am sorry it took so long to post but work computers are looked down tight and though I can see the posts on my I-phone, for some reason when I try to reply or post from it, it won't work   . . .

Oh well.  Thank you all!
