Hi! I juat a had a few questions if you don't mind...
I have my BS in CJ, and will have my MSCJ in May 2010...I am hoping to get into PCOM for my second masters in forensic medicine (starting in 6/10 and graduating is 5/12) and get certified as a death investigator....anyway, my question is what do you think is the best way to gain entrance into the forensic/forensic medicine field? Do you think my education will make me hirable as an autopsy assistant, death investigator, or crime scene investigator? Should I be looking for jobs now while doing grad school or waiting till 2012 when I have comepleted everything? Sorry for the 20 questions, but I do not run across too many people in this career field, so this is exciting for me!

Well my day job is an esthetician and I work in a dermatology practice in Wynnewood. I do facials, Peels, microdermabrasion, waxing, makeup, airbrush tanning, and laser services like IPL and laser hair removal. Most of there cosmetic stuff. I have an illustration degree but it didn't fit so I got into skincare 17 yrs ago. After I moved here from Minnesota. If anyone has skincare questions Please let me know. I LOVE to help! My other full time Job is Mom to grate boys! Marcus who is 12, And Matthew who is 3!
Great post Liz! I have really enjoyed it!

graduated from columbia college chicago in may 08 with a degree in arts, entertainment and media management (yeah... i majored in it for 4 years and still don't know how to explain it lol). basically started out wanting to work in the music business, finished wanting to work in the fashion business. but we all know how the economy is, and arts jobs are pretty much the first ones cut... so i'm working at best buy. right now i'm occassionally at the customer service desk, but do more in the cash office/doing overrides/etc.
i just got asked today to send my resume to a record label back in chicago, but i honestly am at a loss of what to do considering i just started the pre-op process. if i move back out there i won't have the help i'll need after surgery, plus i'll be 700 miles away from my drs. not to mention having to change insurance (for the 2nd time in like 4 months). but at the same time, this is a great career starting opportunity that i may not get again. why couldn't they have asked me for my resume before i had my heart set on surgery? lol

Quick suggestion... send your resume, let them consider you as a candidate. If they call to interview, go interview. Wow them to death and then when they make an offer just let them know for personal reasons it's not the right time for you to move, but that you would love to consider other opportunities in the near future. If you do a great job interviewing and they're interested - there will be another position open in a couple of years when you might be ready to move. And if you're not, then no harm. Sending the resume is just the first step in a LONG process - but do everything you can to keep them interested by being an outstanding candidate now. They'll respect this - it happens all the time! Good luck!

problem is, its my good friend picking who gets the job since it was hers and she just got promoted, so she'll get a replacement and a roomie out of me lol. she started less than 2 weeks after she got the offer and was promoted in under 3 months so unfortunately its pretty quick moving. i'm gonna meet my mom on her lunch break and make a pro-con list with her lol
Wow, I feel like a slacker. I retired early (they made an offer I couldn't refuse) I worked for Verizon for 40 yrs. Went from central office to central office doing customer installations, and working on troubles and out of svc. or down phones or systems. I now nanny four days a week for my grandchildren while my daughter who is a nurse works the nite shift. Their father is good with 7yo Chloe and 4 yo Eli, but 4 month old Deliah is my total responsibility, as Dad just does not know what to do with her, he thinks every time she crys she is hungry, and does not consider that she maybe tired or just want a change of scenery. (that's why I am there).
Wow, everyone sounds sooo grown up!!! My job seems piddly compared to the company on this board!! Great topic!!

Wow- that is really interesting. Since having WLS is a permanent disqualifier from joining the military, I never realized you could have it while already in the military. Did they make it hard on you at all- pre op or post op? Are you deployable? Have any restrictions? Not trying to be nosey, but I am really fascinated- my hubby is a Marine, so I am on the fringes of military life, and I know that the Corps processes you out if you are over weight limits for more than six months...no second chances with them, lol...
