Some of you may know that this week is the 40th anniversary of Sesame Street.

I can't believe that SS is 40.  Me too !  I grew up with SS.

Who was your favorite character ?

Mine was Grover.  I loved how silly he was.

And I also loved when a show ended with  "today's show is brought to you by the letter L "  It made me feel special.  Like the show was just for me that day.

Happy Birthday Sesame Street !  Thanks for the memories !

Elmo.

As evidenced by my collection of elmo dolls I have all over the place now.

Sesame Street didn't really do it for me.  I did like The Muppets though and they are related.  While we are re-living childhood memories, any of you, who grew up in PA, remember Hatchy Milatchy?

I've never heard of Hatchy Malachy.  What show was that?

But I did meet Chief Halftown (sp?) once at Dutch Onderland when I was 6.

Sesame Street wasn't a huge part of my childhood either. It was H.R. Puff 'n Stuff for me and of course The Muppet Show. That was a big deal to me. I loved Beaker, Animal and Miss Piggy. But if I had to pick one character, it would be Oscar the Grouch. He's so sarcastic, and I love it!

Oscar the Grouch

There are some funnier pics of Oscar, however I won't ruin your thread with my Trucker sense of humor and "Potty Mouth Pics"! LOL

All the kiddos loved Sesame Street. Coy & Sawyer were elmo junkies. riley still watches and like Elmo too, but really likes the new character...... Abby Cadabby. She is a "Fairy-in-Training" LOL

Abby Cadabby is really cute.  I think I heard that she is the first computer animated character.

This is her "Bio" page on Sesamestreet.org.

They have a wonderful website that is so toddler friendly and interactive. Riely is 2, and can spell her own name, knows all her ABC's, can spell other small words, count to 20 and knows all her colors and shapes. And it's definately due to the help of Sesame Street and thier website.

I grew up on Captain Kangaroo and Gene London, but my favorite SS character is Big Bird.

Who is Hatchy Malachy?

Hatchy Milatchy was a show on WNEP based out of Scranton.  It had a host named Miss Judy and some little elf guy.  I don't remember much else about it, but as a young lad I loved it!
