a funny wow

I was shopping in Costco tonight, dutifully reading nutrition labels on some soup i was considering... didn't realize I was in this woman's way.  She said Excuse Me, and I apologized... she laughed and said "You're too skinny for me to knock 5 pounds off of... figured I'd better say something."  

I laughed and thanked her... almost burst out crying as soon as my back was turned to the rest of the store. 

I've been feeling so rotten right now about how I look... even though objectively I know it's nonsense - just head games with myself.  So that couldn't have come at a better time.

OH.. and found a couple of pairs of kick-ass boots (one in black another in brown) today - can't wait to wear them.  They're tall boots and they have (gasp) heels.  Yikes!  Don't know if I'll have the courage, but we'll see!  (they were on really good sale at DSW, so i talked myself into getting both)

You do look great, I can tell from your picture.  As for the boots, You go girl!!!

You are skinny and beautiful! And once we get to know you we see it even more!! That is a great wow moment!

I told you the other night how fabulous you looked!! You are definitely one that you cannot tell ever needed surgery.  You are SKINNY!!  Rock those boots girl!

The head games suck - but we all know them - and know that this too shall pass!  Glad that woman said something....there's an email that I just recently got that said something about people being sent to you when you need them for however long you need them...a second, a minute, a year, a life time.  And that woman, it sounds like to me, is what you needed that second.

And the boots - oh my!  I'm such a boot addict.  I've restrained myself but good lord do I want about a million different pairs right now.  Congrats!  Do me a favor, though...could you please warn me if you are gonna wear them when at Liz's house?  Because if you wear them and I wear my flats on the same day.....I'd be lucky if I came up to your knee caps! 

Wear 'em proud woman!  You are FAB looking!

What a wonderful insight about people being sent when you need them...

It got me thinking about how the little off-hand comments we make to people can significantly affect them.  She probably forgot about saying it immediately afterward, but it's still affecting me - so if I look for ways to drop little "diamonds of joy" like that into someone else's life (with sincerity), maybe it will pass some of it along.  And you never know the journey the other person has been through (or is walking)...  Profound thoughts.

And if I wear boots to Liz's I'll try to make sure to wear flats ;-).  Haha!

FYI, you look amazing and while what you see may not be what the world sees, because your head has not caught up yet, trust me, you really do look wonderful!
