Yep... it's REALLY easy to fall into the trap of thinking that things sound healthy, especially the way they are described on the menus.

I "divorced" Applebees right after my surgery because they have a company policy of not disclosing ingredients or nutritional information for their menu items.

I actually researched the various chain restaurants that I've been to in the past to look at their nutritional values and to keep a list with me (in my phone) of "safe" foods from their menus with their values, so that I could easily look things up and make good choices.  Applebees got themselves stricken from the list with their policies, and you can see why they'd want to keep that type of nutrition info quiet.

A key to note on their website:  "To our guests with food sensitivities or allergies: Applebee’s cannot ensure that menu items do not contain ingredients that might cause an allergic reaction. Please order with caution."   I've been told that because of this policy, their employees are not ALLOWED  to tell you if something contains sugar or a sweetener (or anything else).

I will still go to Applebees every so often, but always order the same thing:
Cajun Lime Talapia with none of the topping
Broccoli
No rice

Not exciting but the plainest thing on the menu...and out here in Lancaster County, we have a lot of restaurants that close at 8 p.m. - so if it's a late night, it's either Applebees or the diner!

Thanks for the site Karen.  I will be on it so I know what entrees to advoid and Applebees is so off my list it has been for so long.  I just don't care for their foods and anyplace that does not reveal their ingredients has something to hide.  I am not asking for the recipe just what is in it and for someplace to say that they are not liable for food allergies but won't tell you what is in the foods they serve well that just doesn't make sense because if you do eat their foods and something happens of course they are liable for that.
