Uh....freaking WOW
So I get a phone call last night from the glamour shot people....I figure something got screwed up with the order or something (little miss pessimistic) So I call them back...
Turns out one of the managers had been in the store (he was gone before I called) He noticed the picture of me kneeling in the oriental dress with the rose petals around me....
And wants to use it in a 16x20 in the store as advertising for 30 days :) I was SHOCKED.
Not toally sold on doing it - only for one reason The woman explained to me that I would GET the 16x20 of me FRAMED AND MOUNTED after the 30 day stint is done. I would also get 4 additional photos from my shoot (not sure what size or what not - she didn't know the details) Of course, due to the mounting, framing, "extra free pictures" etc....they also want an extra couple of hundred for me.
No way in frigging hell am I paying THEM to use MY picture. Just ain't happening. I need to call today when the manager is in. I haven't figured how I'm gonna play it. I figure I have three options:
Tell them I get it ALL in only for exchange for them to use my picture
Negotiate so I get EITHER the 16x20 or the four additional shots, again, at no charge
Or I let them use the darn thing, take it as a huge accomplishment that I would have never imagined 2 years ago and not worry about getting any of the above.
I'll see how witchy I feel when I get up.
Either way - it's kind of an awesome WOW

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.

The picture certainly is beautiful.......and it's a definite wow that they want to display it.
But - them wanting more money stinks of underhanded sales tactics.
Negotiating for more pictures is fine, but I wouldn't pay them one additional red cent than what you originally agreed upon.

But shouldnt they be paying YOU or at least giving you the picture for free....even if they keep the frame and mounting for the next advertising picture.
Its like the car dealerships...they charge us advertising fees when you buy a car and they they slap their logo on the back of your car....you are paying THEM to advertise for THEM. I have a coworker that tells them to take their logo off the back of her car unless they want to pay her for being their personal bill board LOL

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call! Yea...it's absolutely "shady sales tactics" and there is no way I am paying any of them one red cent :)
However...I was giddy as hell as Jo put it when I got the phone call.
Gonna call them in a few mins and see how it goes. I'm planning on negotiating either for the free pics (framed or not) or have them use it and toss it.
It's just nice to be considered!

No way do they get to use you! Do they think you are that stupid? You should get all of your pics for free at the very least. You should let them know how insulted you are that they even suggested that you would pay of framing or any of the pics.! Don't let them take advantage of you!
P.S. It is an awsome wow, just goes to show how beautiful you are. Others see it too, not just your friends and husband.

Wow you go girl. That pic is an awesome one, and I agree about the "giddy as hell" thing. I also agree that giving them anymore money would be wrong. But I would certainly negotiate for a few more free pics instead. No matter how your play it how great for you to get recognition like that. Next your will be giving up your nursing career and taking up modeling. LOL

I do agree that you shouldn't have to pay for anything. You are doing advertising for them and they will make more money by using your picture.
