I need an exercise buddy!!
Unfortunately, I don't think many (or any!!) of you are from Erie and I really don't have any friends as most of them have stopped talking to me due to having the gastric bypass surgery.
I have no idea what to do. I just really hate exercising by myself and I can't get my husband (due to back problems) to do anything with me.

Hi there,
I feel your pain. I have been there done that. I will tell you something though. I got fluffy on my own so I figured I can lose the weight on my own. Don't get me wrong I still struggle to motivate myself to excercise every single day but I love to eat too much not to excercise. What about a neighbor would they like to walk with your around the neighborhood. My husband is extremely busy and does not like excercising but lately he has been complaining that he is lacking energy and feeling FAT so I think he will be coming around excercising with me eventually. Anyway I digress if there is anything I can help you with please let me know. It is not easy but you will get there. We are right here for you!!

Jackie,
I finally gave up on trying to find people to exercise with me, realizing that for me it was another excuse to not exercise. I found a great walking trail that I enjoyed and loaded up my ipod with music that I liked and just started walking. Found it was wonderful "me" time - alone time, just me, my music, my thoughts, my own pace. From there, I worked up to some running - found that when I tried to do it with someone else, I was adapting to their pace or finding the pace "awkward" so I wasn't getting as good a workout as when I did it myself.
Now I go to the gym every morning, put on my headphones, and just rock out to my own beat. Yes, there are other people around, but we're all in our own little worlds, by and large... there are a few people I've gotten to know in the lockers because we're in there the same time every morning. But I'm now self-reliant as it has evolved for working out, and am surprised but I like it that way.
This way, I'm also not relying on someone else's motivation and I'm not going to be derailed by someone else's LACK of motivation. The key for me was finding a spot of time that I can CONSISTENTLY set aside non-distractable time, and the only time that happens for me is in the morning before work.
Hope this helps!
Karen
