Confessions of a Stauffer's Milk Chocolate Star

Hi, I am a delicious graham cookie star, wrapped in smooth milk chocolate and fashionably dressed with white non-periels. (Brown & white is "in" this season)

Anyways, a nice lady bought me and a bunch of my star friends from the factory outlet, and she delivered us to this WONDERFUL doctor's office for the girls there.

Well, I must confess, I teased and taunted one of your friends. I kept whispering to her each time she walked by. I tempted her and coarsed her until she finally grabbed me, and chewed me, to shut me up.

Now I am remorseful. I feel bad for doing this to her. Please forgive me?

Dear Mr Stauffer Star - You were always a childhood favorite of mine growing up, since I grew up in York, PA and the factory is actually located there. Oh how I loved the holidays and special occasions when my Aunt Helen would replace her beloved Oreo's with chocolate stars (milk chocolate and dark chocolate) at the holidays and chocolate bunnies at Easter. I remember eating the point off each star, then the middle - well, okay - if we're being perfectly honest I ate the points off 1/2 dozen stars if it stopped there!!

Even after I moved from York my sister and I would trek out there at the holidays to visit your sweet smelling factory and load up on goodies for the holidays and our friends - oops, honesty again - for US. And then we would head to Wolfgang's Candy (Das Sweetenhaus) on our way out of York for our stash of holiday candy.

Oh Mr Stauffer, there aren't many things I miss from my childhood but you are definitely one of them and I'm not certain I'd be strong enough to resist your temptations if you happened to show up around me. You certainly are one tempting, tasty, tantalizing treat that is hard to resist. SO STAY AWAY!!

P.S. Is this seriously just a York County thing? I assumed all of PA knows of these delicious yummies!

nope... we don't have them here in Bucks, Montgomery or Northampton counties that I've ever seen! And I have a pretty good relationship with cookies lol DEFINATELY if it came in a dark chocolate variety...

dammit now I want a cookie...

Nope, definitely a York County deal - altho sometimes around the holidays they will sneak into local grocery stores on a special display. Just back away from the cookies and say no!!!

You know, who would think that a stinking little cookie like that could be so tempting!

Have you heard of Wolfgang's?? God no wonder we both had to have WLS - growing up in York County with all that Pennsylvania dutch cooking and goodies?? We never stood a chance!!

Are you kidding? My grandmother worked for Wolfgang's for over 40 years. And my kids sell Wolfgang Candy about 4 times a freaking year! It's nuts. I LIVE in Snack Food Country.
