My Glamour Shot Experience

Wow.  Loooooong time!

An hour with the "hair and make up artist" and then two hours of actual photos.  I don't know how many they took - but it was a LOT.  Three different outfits and approximately 1 million poses in each one (note the exaggeration - but not by much)  Then it was a good 30 minutes before they were "instantly" viewable.  And then about another hour or so going over all the pictures and picking out sizes and what not.  My appointment was at 4:30 - we left at 9pm

And yes, I bit the bullet and wore sexy stuff for one of my outfits.  It was the last outfit I was posed in, and the best way I can describe how I did it was to partially pretend it wasn't me standing there in lingerie with a strange woman taking pictures of me.  I kind of had the attitude of "if these come out awful, nobody else ever has to see them"  The kicker?  I love almost every single one of those shots - and not necessarily come close to loving all the other shots of the other two outfits.

All in all - I had a BLAST.

I do have to say - they are a HARD sell and you need to go in there with exactly what you want because I'm pretty sure if I asked them "Could I please buy the actual moon with this one" they would have quoted me a price.  For instance....when I went through the photos the first time for the "first cut" per say - I ended up with 16 different photos that I REALLY liked.  And they were doing this "package" thing where you get an 8x10, 2 5x7, and 8 wallets of each of those 16 pictures (obviously waaaaay to many photos for what I was going for), along with a specialty photo collage and a dvd and a proof booklet....all for the mere price of $3k  Well hell, sign me up for two of THOSE packages, please!  I damn near passed out in the chair.  After much talking and me getting A) tired B) hungry C)overwhelmed I finally said to her "Look...I want a 2 5x7 TOTAL (one for each set of parents), 1 set of wallets, and an 8x10 or something for me and Brian.

Long story short...Brian then came and looked at the pics and the different things they could do and we ended up getting more than what I told the lady I wanted, and spending a heck of a lot more than I had initially anticipated.  However Brian told me "you work two jobs - you work hard, now you get to play hard" and I had absolutely no will power or negotiating left in me and said "fine"  I don't have buyers remorse per say (however, I do have bank account remorse)

I DO have a CD/DVD of the photos - however it is in slide show format and right now we can't figure out how to "separate" the slide show into individual photos.  Anyone who is close enough to me who wants to see it, is more than welcome to it - but you have to see the good bad and ugly of all of it :)

I will have my photos in about a week - and will at the very least be able to scan them into the computer so you guys can see at least those.   And when I go to Barix and/or Liz's next I will bring my little itty bitty photo proof book that they "threw in for free" (BS - NOTHING was free there...they just want you to think they are doing you a favor)

GREAT team of girls.  PHENOMENAL photos.  FABULOUS time.  AMAZING hair/makeup/lighting.  Pricey.

Pam,
I'm glad you had a good time. Whoever thought that you'd be having fun with glamor shots 2 years ago? A great reward for all of your hard work.

I'm so glad you did this for yourself, Pam.  You so deserve it. I am also EXTRA glad that you decided to do the sexy stuff.  I knew you'd love them.  As for the price, that's  how all these places work.  They kill you with thousands of great pics and then expect you to buy them all.  When Siehara was a baby, I used to take her to Sadie's for pics and they did the same thing.

I can't wait to see them!! I'm sure they look fantastic and you deserve it!

Pam,

That is just another part of your successing story, would you have ever thought of doing such things a little over 2 years ago?  I know the answer to that one and you are truly a winner on this Loser's Bench of ours, where dreams we didn't even know we had, are being realized by us daily!

Hugs, Laureen

Can't wait to see the photos - so glad you had a good experience with it. And hey, how often are you ever going to do something like this, so go for it - get the pics now!! And I'm really happy to hear you went with the 'sexy' outfit as well - I'm sure it wasn't easy but again, when are you ever going to do it again?? Congrats - bring the pictures on!!

AWESOME! This sounds like an great experience and I am so glad you got to savior all the moments of it and have lasting memories of the day.

I have to say you are giving me the courage to do a photo shoot my cousin does this for a living and since I had surgery she has been begging me to do pictures. She wanted to do a shoot a month and I was not ready to do it but I think I may have to call her and tell her I am now ready.

I can not wait to see your finished photos!
