The time is drawng very near!
Saturday is the cooking group for the Schnibbe-Hunt family, and as Liz posted yesterday, there is STILL time to drop your donation into the mailbox. My posting a couple of days ago had 169 views as of a few moments ago, an amzing thing in itself!!! I have already received donations, both yesterday and today and I am so AMAZED to report to you that in just those two days, and after opening just a few envelopes, and finding donations ranging from a SINGLE DOLLAR up to FIFTY DOLLARS, that we have raised $125 from this board! I am so happy and so proud of all of us in making this effort a reality! PLEASE help us to get this cooking group to it's goal of being able to get through the grocery store and providing 30 days worth of lunches and dinners for Lisa and Russ, the mom and dad of Hailey! If you drop the donation into the mail now, it WILL make it to my home in time! If you can't do it until pay day on Friday, email me at [email protected] or post something here indicating that you will mail it on Friday or Saturday and I will "front" your contribution at the grocery store.

Hi everyone!
So, I know that MANY of you helped selflessly with the big Schnibbe-Hunt donation drive that raised a whopping $760.00 for Lisa, Russ and Hailey. THANK YOU! Hailey, HOPEFULLY will come home in the next 2 weeks or so (keep those prayers flowing!) and we would like to help Lisa and Russ to be really ready. The house will be crazy, trying to keep up with Hailey's needs medically speaking, with Lisa trying to remember to eat right and get her fluids in, and with Russ having to work more than full time to support the whole thing financially.
There is a small but very dedicated group of us who will be getting together on Halloween to cook for many hours. We do not need additional support on the cooking end , but we do need help in another way. We have already spoken with Lisa and have determined foods that both Lisa and Russ can eat. We've got the recipes ready to go, the menu's ready to be prepared. I am going to go shopping on the way to the house in which we're doing the cooking and the other "chef's" will meet me there. From there, history will be made

So here is where you come in. If EVERYONE who can afford it can remember to throw just a couple of dollars, like literally TWO OR THREE dollars, into an envelope on Monday morning (of course, please send more if you can!), the cost will not only have to be absorbed by the 6 people cooking that day. I attended the Barix post-op support group last Wednesday night and was able to collect an incredible $100 in only 1 1/2 hours. I was humbled and amazed at the outpouring of support, knowing that some of those same people had opened their wallets for the very recent cash collection only a few weeks ago for the same family. Considering the volume of food we will be cooking next weekend, we will need far more money that the $100 we have collected thus far. So please, if you can, please think of the baby coming home and the need for the family to continue to eat a healthy diet. We can help them on a grand scale as a community with each of us contributing a very small amount on an individual basis.
PLEASE AVOID SENDING CHECKS, though if you must we will understand. There may not be enough time to cash them prior to the cooking event. Please send cash wrapped in a piece of paper and then place it in an envelope, mailing it to the following address as soon as possible...
