Couch to 5-K Running program

WOW Karen, that sounds so confusing.  I know that it's not so much when you are using the program.  I think I saw that cool running had a downloadable thing where you can edit music to last for however long you are running/walking so you know when to switch.  I will need that so when I do go outside, I can do that.  I know I will need to get outside at some point since the race itself is outside.  Once I build up to at least 2 miles, I will go over to the park where they have the race.  I know the course from Siehara running it before.  I will try to get her to "help me" and remind me of the course so that gets her going, too!!!

Thanks everyone! I'm really going to do this!

I've always thought that after I hit goal I would do a 5k race but then I had to get my hip replaced and I am not allowed to run at all. I mean, I can run after my kids and walk fast but anything more than that can wear out the joint and make me have another surgery to replace the socket faster than needed. I guess I can live without running but I would have loved to have done this. Good luck Lisa. You can do it.

Take care,
Tracy

I highly recommend First Strides, a real gem in the Lehigh Valley,  they do the C25K in classes, women only, in a very supportive environment, they have a web site - I did the program when I first moved to NJ.  Lots of fun.  All ages, sizes, etc.

I did the First Strides program before I had my surgery.. well I started it. I couldn't finish because I hurt my back.  I did think of going back to that, but figured I could start earlier if I do C25K now instead of waiting for First Strides to start.  I am going to check out the website to see when they are starting up again for the spring.  That's something Siehara and I could definitely do together!!

Thanks for the reminder

Just wanted to say "You can do it!"
Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.

I did...anyone can do it.  I started running at about 5 months postop...I was running when I was about 220 lbs... it's all about gradual interval training.

I'm running up to 6 miles now having done this type of training.

YOU CAN DO IT!

OMG- i just looked on the link you posted. Although I used the same exact program, I look at it now and think what a breeze that is for me now! Woah- I didnt realize how far I've come.

I remember using that program 2 years ago in the dead of winter, at night, with snow on the ground and crying around the track.  I cant BELIEVE I can just hop out there now on any given night and run 3 miles with ease.  SO WEIRD!

Keep with that program! You wont be sorry!

..sorry...just blabbing my little epiphany..
