Hey Western PA!
I posted this the other day and thought I would post one more time for good measure!
After 3 years of surgery, successful weight loss and maintenance, I have been attending Overeater's Anonymous meetings. I do believe I have a truly unhealthy relationship with food and yes, I am a compulsive overeater. The meetings really help me deal with the head hunger.
The problem is I don't really feel welcome at the meetings, as many of the participants believe that the only way we should manage our weight is through the 12 steps and not surgery. I thought about going and not telling anyone, but so much of the work you do at the meetings is about honesty and I don't want to lie about it.
So, the question is: is anyone in Southwestern PA interested in joining me as we start an OA meeting specifically for WLS patients? Let me know if you are (and send me your email address if you could, so that I could begin a distribution list to set up meeting times, etc...)
thanks,
Lou
I would definately be interested in this. I have a constant fear that I am going to lose this control and in turn lose so much more.
My email is [email protected], please include me in any information or meetings you have.
Hope to meet you all soon.

Even after surgery, we can still be addicted to food, and need OA.
Wonderful idea!!!
