We ran the 10K today. Embarrassing!
Jen,
I undersstand your frustration. But please try to remember that this wouldn't have even been an option before you lost weight. The mere fact that you could even sign up for a race, and finish is a HUGE accomplishment. I know, at times, we can be so hard on ourselves. We go from one extreme to another.
We are at a point in our lives we can't do anything, and once we can, we have such high expectations. Hang in there. cut yourself some slack. You entered a race! I personally couldn't even do that much.
Congrats to you! Great job and I admire you. I personally know you accomplished something I wouldn't be able to.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!
Jen,
Take a HUGE step back. Not only did you finish the race but you can WALK. You can breath, walk, talk, eat and function on a level that you could only dream of before your surgery. Now, stop and compare yourself to some other folks. Take me for example. I want to do the marathons, the long walks, but with a new diagnosis of fibromyalgia I can take lots of pain meds and go get labs every few weeks to make sure that my liver isn't failing for second time due to medication interactions. I walk myself to the shower each morning carrying my right arm each morning due to pain. I didn't have this disease when I had the bypass so this was quite unexpected, considering I was running 7 miles a day earlier this year. Take some time and count the blessings, work toward your goals and smile about what you have done. You have done GREAT things and we are EXTREMELY proud of you! Keep it up!
