1 month since my surgery
I can’t believe it’s been one month since my surgery.
What an amazing time this has been. There have been so many changes in my life in just one month:
I am very thankful to have a very special, amazing, and wonderful group of support surrounding me from both the PA OH forum and the Saturday Barix support group.
I’m off all my medication I was on pre-op.
My fasting blood sugars are now in the 130’s in the morning and continue to come down daily, prior to surgery they were 250+ all day long and that was taking two medications.
My daily blood sugars are all within the normal range may times in the 90’s especially after my daily walk.
I’ve lost 30 pounds!!!!
I have been stalled going into my second week now but the way I see it when is the last time I was able to loose 30 pounds in one month, amazing is all I can say. I know my body is adjusting and when it’s caught up with the weight loss it will start coming off again.
I’m in smaller clothes, I have to find the time to go through my closet to get out all the clothes that are too big and bag them up.
I can walk up the stairs from the family room now. A month ago I could barely crawl up those same steps my back, knees, hips, ankles, and feet hurt so much.
I can walk 2.5 miles everyday; the last time I was able to do this was 2006.
A month ago I could not walk from the house to the car without all my load bearing joints hurting so badly that I’d rather stay in the house than go out.
I can be on my feet and walk all day either out on some excursion or the weekly shopping, a month ago I would plan one store at a time because it hurt so bad to be up on my feet for any length of time.
I did have one night where my pouch was not happy. Not sure what happend but I spent the better part of 2 hours waiting for the pain to subside, I'm pretty sure I ate too fast. I waited it out, stayed calm, and it went away. I told Gene what if felt like, he said it sounded like I ate to fast so I've been very careful to eat slowly and chew, chew, chew, chew so I don't have a repeat of that experience. So far so good. I see my surgeon next week on the 22nd. I will have my blood drawn to see where all my levels are so I can plan for my B-12 shots as well as adjusting any vitamins. I will find out that day when I can go back to Curves, and also when I’ll be going back to work. I am hoping for a return to work date of either 11/2 or 11/7, I’d prefer the later
This is an amazing journey. I already knew that from sharing Gene’s journey for the last 4 years, now being my own journey now and sharing it with Gene
is so special for me….

Wow Ida, A month has gone by in a hurry! You are doing great and can't wait to see you at the next Barix meeting we are both at!
