Clarion - New to the area, had VSG in Michigan
Welcome to Pennsylvania and the PA Boards - I honestly have no idea where Clarion is but if nothing else this is a fantastic support website and you can come here as often as you need and/or want - I know its not quite the same as person-to-person support group meetings but its the next best thing until you can find one. Have you checked with the local hospitals where you live? They may have one. Looks like you're doing great on your journey so far - keep on successing!!

You will find a lot of good support on this forum. Hope you find some local support groups, if not and you have the time, perhaps you can start one in your area, check with local surgeons offices or maybe see if you can find a group of people within the surrounding area that have had WLS and would be interested in having one. Some people do them montly in their homes, or maybe a local church would be willing for a small monthly donation, be willing to let you use their space for a couple of hours each month. The OH forum has a program that certifies people to offer group support. Just some ideas in case you are of a mind to do so. . .

I grew up in the Clarion and Brookville area but I moved about 4 1/2 years ago. Beautiful area and it will always be home to me. Did you go to Autumn Leaf last week?
I had my surgery done in Danville at Geisinger. They do have support groups in Clearfield and State College, but I know that is still quite a drive for you.
I don't know of any local groups but you might check with UPMC -Northeast in Seneca, I know they have a bariatric program in Pittsburgh but not sure if they have any local support. The only people I ever knew in the area that had WLS surgery all went to the Pitttsburgh area.

Thanks to all for the welcome and suggestions. It is a beautiful area but given it's size I do believe that most people go to Pittsburgh for surgery. Wanted to be sure although I hadn't found any 'local' surgeons via the list on this site.
As for the Autumn Leaf Festival, that's why I am here. I am the interim Festival / Events assistant at the Clarion Chamber of Business & Industry. I've been so busy helping plan and run the ALF I hadn't had the time to look into local support.
