Hey girls,

How does Old Navy's clothes fit?  Do they run small, etc?  Since they don't carry the plus sizes in the stores I have no idea how it fits... And how does Gap stuff fit?

Thanks...

sorry I don't know, but both stores do have nice clothes. I guess you'll just have to go shopping and find out. I hope you find some stuff on sale!

Old Navy plus sizes run a bit smaller when compared to Lane Bryant sizes.  For example, I can usually wear a 22/24 in a lane Bryant top, but with old navy, I'd need to wear the 3x (usually because of the arms).  If I'm in a 24 lane Bryant bottom, I can usually wear a 26 bottom with old navy.  Some of the cuts of their pants make a big difference for me.  I usually make sure that the pants I get from old navy are wider in the legs because the cut is too tight for me around the legs otherwise.  one caution on the pants - they tend to be low rise even if they don't say that they are... as they stretch out, I'm always hiking them back up to stay on my rear =)

Gap clothes are cut much smaller.  When I was small enough to wear them, an XXL in a shirt that had some stretch still worked - but I was in a 14/16 at lane Bryant and that was still a bit too big.  I find that the arms are always too small with the Gap shirts.  Sweaters are usually flexible and I could pull off an XXL.

One great thing about Gap is that the Gap Body has a lot of great bras (very cute and stylish) in larger sizes.  That would be well worth your stop/online shopping trip to try something out.

Finally, the nice thing about old navy and gap is that if you order online and it doesn't fit - you can return it to the store.  No need to worry about paying shipping to send it back.  Just save your package receipt and they'll take it back without problem.  I usually try and order enough online to get the free shipping so if nothing ends up working from what I've ordered, I'm not out any money.

Hope this helps - enjoy shopping!!!

You definitely have to go up in size at Old Navy, and really look at their clothes - some are really made cheap and don't hold up, but I have gotten a few things there that I like. Haven't ventured into Gap since I'm in 'normal' sizes but I always liked their stuff. I did find some things at the Eddie Bauer outlet in Rehobeth Beach the other week and had to get 2X.

The problem I have with old navy is you can buy the same pants in two different colors anf they could potentially fit differently- I know from experience with them. Gap is more reliable with their sizingand they have been on the money with fitting properly.

Old navy clothes seem to be cut differently - not a fan although I do own a few things from Old Navy.  I would always try everything on.

Gap clothes seem to be right on the mark - big fan of Gap!  I can buy the same pants in 3 different colors and they would all fit just right.  Love, love, love the Gap.

ok, going to skip Old Navy till I can try things on in the store... I have a fleece shirt that is from the men's section that is a 2x and is smaller than my woman's 2x from other places... so that is why I was asking because I wasn't sure... I can't fit into Gap stuff yet... but one day... maybe when I don't have to eat all these carbs lol...

But, what about Dots stuff?

I have never heard of Dots.  Could that be a PA thing and not a MD thing?

There's a DOTS near my apartment.  The stuff looks cheap, as in cheaply made.
