It's a Small World After All...

...and now that I've gotten that song stuck in your head (you can thank me later) I just wanted to share how small our RNY/Lapband world really is.

Some of you may remember me posting about a long-lost junior high friend contacting me and my hesitation to re-acquaint myself with her. I have, slowly, and I can tell she's been tentative with sharing her information as well - and that's a good thing.

Her last e-mail got more personal with her family life, etc., and then she told me she has RNY last year and has lost 90 lbs to day - her brother is scheduled to have it and her old high school boyfriend is having it! I honestly don't remember her being large in school but she said she had carried around extra weight for most of her adult life, and then broke her leg really bad requiring a lot of 'down time' and her weight ballooned even more, so she decided to have the surgery.

Of course I wrote back and told her about mine and my journey - we also had a daughter the same year (1977) so we have girls the same age. Guess we have a lot more in common than I thought. Not sure where she had her surgery since she lives in Myrtle Beach, but just thought I'd share.

Our world is becoming much smaller in more ways than one!!

Interesting!  Glad you are finding this experience to be a good one thus far!
Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.
