Sudden abdominal pain
Hoping someone can give me some insight as to what to do ...
I've had NO post op issues. This morning after about 1/3 of my protein shake I felt queasy...almost nauseous, stomach cramping, etc. THen I became very flushed and sweaty. No vomiting, no diarrhea, but the worst seems to have passed. Now I have a residual abdominal pain - it was worse a few minutes ago than it is now...
Is this dumping? Is it possible to dump for no apparent reason?
Should I call the dr? I have an appt. on Wednesday.

Dr. Pupkova will tell you that she would have wanted you calling her today as oppose to waiting until Wednesday to talk about it.
It does sound like dumping, although when I over eat (and it was the same early out, too) I get almost identical reactions if eating to fast. Maybe you just took in to much of your protein shake at once?
Feel better!

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.

Pam and Liz, thanks for your help. I did call Dr. Pupkova and she said it was a dumping episode. Pam, she also said maybe I was drinking to fast, or reacting the the sugars in the protein mix. She advised that I have the shake later in the day, after eggs for breakfast or something along that line.
I could argue that I've had a shake for breakfast almost every day....but doesn't matter. I do feel better now. It was as if I had to "sleep it off" once the pain subsided.
And....it made me think of people who test the waters intentionally to "see if I dump." Good grief, who would want to bring this on themselves on purpose!!!!
