Maybe TMI but i need help
Okay, so I am exactly 1 week post op today. I have done pretty well. Ive sipped, sipped, sipped and walked, walked, walked. I havent had any hunger issues (except wanting everything in sight lol) Minimal pain (thank you pain meds), overal it had been a pretty smooth ride. I feel very lucky so have gone this far so smoothly. So heres the problem, as much as i walk i am still having issues with gas. Is it still normal to have gas at a week out. I also on day 3 and 4 had severe diarreha, could this be from anethsia. However I woke up this morning feeling like I had to pass gas, but it indid up with a wardrobe change. Is Diarrhea still normal after 1 week post op. I hate to call the surgeon, cause it seem like i call for everything, and honestly I think You All know well much more than them..lol. Thank everyone in advance you are all great. Oh btw I am already down 10 pounds whhooohooooo!

I had Diarrhea for a little while afterwards. It's been so long, I can't remember for how long.
But if no solids are going in, you aren't going to get solids out......if ya know what I mean.
Gas........well that varies from person to person. The initial gas from surgery can last this long. And it's painful, but something that just has to work it's way out.
After that, you will just have gas like a beer guzzling trucker. (I am not kidding) I am the "Fart Princess" at my house. My oldest boys laugh like crazy at me.........LOL
Just keep walking and sipping. You don't want to get dehydrated. If you feel overly concerned, call the docs. But it sounds to me that you are normal and everything is going great!

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!
My older sons are 10 & 11. So any bodily function noise is an instant hit at my house. My house is a zoo, we are goof balls and act stupid all the time. It's the only way I could handle 4 kids, work and school. LOL.
Plus, who wants to be uptight and nagging all the time? LOL. Of course, that means that at times, I set myself up for things.....Like getting mooned at 5:30 am this morning.......UGH! LOL

Hi Paula - first of all congratulations on your surgery and losing 10 lbs already!! Woo-Hoo!! And trust me, there is no such thing as too much information on these boards - LOL!! We share and share alike out here.
Gas is perfectly normal at this stage of the game - it will last quite a while - they pump your belly so full of air to do the surgery and it takes a while to finally rid yourself of all of it - plus I think the protein shakes help produce some gas as well, so that's to be expected. It can also cause some weird pains in your body - like even up to your shoulders until its all out of your system.
As for the diarrhea I think it might be wise to call your surgeon just to be on the safe side -- I don't recall having issues like that but you are only consuming liquids right now so its very possible that its normal, but you also don't want to become dehydrated and diarrhea will do that to you very quickly. So give the surgeon a call - trust me they won't mind.
Congratulations again, and welcome to the Loser's Bench!!
