What is your favorite fall food???

I have so many! I love the winter squashes, PUMPKIN and apple anything!!! Also makes me want to throw a pork roast in the oven and make some apple sauce! lol

I love anything pumpkin too. But since I don't bake myself.....I don't get much of it. Everyone makes stuff with sugar! LOL

I can't do roasts. I don't know what it is, but yuck! But I am Pennsylvania Dutch so making a big pot of chicken corn soup or homemade potpie is very soothing on cold days. Neither of which is very WLS.

I also like casseroles and baked mac and cheese. I don't tend to make oven dinners too much in the summer so these things are always made mostly in fall and winter.

I do make alot of baked apples this time of year. My mothers best friend owns an Orchard so she stocks us up with apples! My kids just like them peeled, sprinkle a little cinnimon, and lightly cover with SF Pancake syrup, then bake until tender. It's so fast, cheap, and easy. And quite yummy.

This month is definately out. We are moving. And so busy! But maybe a few of the recipies will be "Jodi" friendly. (Meaning few steps and few ingredients) LOL

I love to cook meals and appetizers but just can't get into the baking thing.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

I have a bunch of apples that were brought to me for shiva. If they are still good by next weekend, I'm going to bring them with me to your place.  I just can't eat them all and Siehara doesn't do apples.  They make her nauseous.. weird.  She likes them, but they make her ill.

Humm OK - we'll have to figure out something to do with them! If you keep them somewhere cool they'll be fine.

Anything warm and baked with apples! My mom has been so awesome lately baking sugar free apple desserts - she's made them with oatmeal and bisquick - and over the weekend I treated us to a sugar free apple pie for hubby's birthday.

WLS Friendly apple crisp

Slice up a bunch of apples...I don't measure...probably about 6 or 8 of em for a large (9 x 11) baking dish.  Toss with a  combination of splenda, cinnamon, and lemon juice.  Place in pan.  Dot with butter if desired

In the meantime, use 4 or more packets of "lower sugar" maple and brown sugar oatmeal with either 1/2 stick of butter, or some butter and some oil to make a crumble topping (You can add some chopped nuts to this too, for extra crunch).  Sprinkle on top of apples. (I sometimes add cinnamon to this, too)

Bake at a high temp (about 400ish****il topping is golden brown and apples are soft and bubbling.  Serve w/ sf whipped cream, NSA ice cream, or just enjoy!
