Had surgery on Thursday at Barix. Got to go home yesterday. Ran into a LITTLE problem with gas. So they kept me and extra day. At one point I really thought I should died from the pain! Was there when everyone was there for the support group but wasn't feeling that great so I'm planing to go to the next meeting. I'm tried today but felling better. The only problem I having is a Nasty after taste the wont go away. Did anyone have that? YUCK! Make room everyone!

Hi Julie - sorry to hear that you had a tough time with the gas.  I had a good amount of pain from the gas too.

It's funny, I barely remember the specific details of my surgery without really stopping to think about it and it's only been a little over three months.  You'll forget all about it soon enough too.

Welcome to the Loser's Bench !

Welcome home.  Uhm I don't remember a yucky mouth thing.

Happy losing.

Congrats. Glad you are home and getting better.

I am not sure about the bad taste in mouth, but I recall someone else stating they had that too.

Keep walking and sipping. Good Luck!

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

Oh yes the yucky mouth thing is awful. My tongue turned black and freaked me out. It was horrible. Google black tongue and you'll get all kinds if info on yucky mouth and taste.

Hang in there and good luck.

Hi Julie!

Welcome home and welcome to the loser's bench!!!  Sorry to hear you're having pain from the gas.  I had a lot of pain on my left side, but I think it was more from the instruments.  It goes away.  Keep walking, stretching, and sipping---it helps.  I don't recall having a yucky taste in my mouth, but things tasted nasty, water and chewable vitamins in particular.  That goes away too, and things will start to taste normal again.

Feel better!

Hi Julie,

I also stayed an extra day after my surgery in June.  That was the best thing for me because there was some swelling in the stoma.  Initially I could not even eat a sugar free popsicle without throwing up.  By the extra day I was up and walking great and could sip more fluids without feeling bloated.  I also had Dr. Boe and just love him.  Aren't the nurses great!  i was up on Saturday to see Kathy Manning and Sue.  i love the two of them.

Welcome to the losers bench.  Hope that I get to meet you if you make it to the Saturday support meeting in November.  Remember to keep on walking and sipping - most important things that you can do.  Good luck with everything.
